Can't Even Open The Door

One of the limited employment options I have is as a caregiver as that was one of my last jobs. I've avoided as its low pay and bad working conditions. Many "consumers' treat you more like a maid than a helper. However, as I've failed to find any job at all, I decided to look up on it...and the door was closed. The requirements now, due to changing state laws, are to be certified in CPR and to be fingerprinted for a criminal background check. The former costs $85 and the latter is $55. So, $140 that I don't have.. I'm lucky to put gas in my car or buy a Slurpee.

I am in a bit of the same boat. I have qualifications but I hate working in the industry that Im qualified for...id work in it if I could get a job in it but I cant seem to anymore. I like the idea of working in mental health in some realm, but I dont wanna be a therapist, I want to work as in mental health but more in a group setting. I like the idea of being a 'mental health support worker,' but for that you need a certificate for it, 'cert iv in mental health' to work as one, my job agency will pay for the course which is 6 months study part time (the job itself isnt a huge wage either but is ok)....but i feel embarassed about studying yet again and getting another stupid qualification when I already have a masters, plus studying for 6 months will mean i remain on the dole for another 6 months which means I am again 6 months povo.

Hi, the state website for employment where I live..NJ, has an area for ex convicts to apply for training for in-demand jobs..cooking, automotive..those r the ones I remember.

I'm lucky where I will hv money to get my record expunged soon and my lawyer says it will cost me $117. That is cheap bcz I've seen it advertised on the web 4 much higher.

My best friend is a home health aide and the pay is low, but she loves her clients. It is hard for her to support her family doing that along with child support. And it can be a dirty job.

I am with ya on that one. I don't have any money either. Nor do I have a job. No money and no job equals a sucky life. Plus, it doesn't help that I haven't had a man in my life for more than 5 years.
