Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Alot of people on this site have wanted to die, so that they wouldn't have to wake up and still be sick and in pain, mental pain.
Death is not considered a treatment for depression. Think about this. What one single thing can you change today? Just one! If you are doing something unhealthy, you could stop doing that for one day. There must be one thing you would like to change about yourself, maybe hundreds of things. But just pick one thing that by changing it you would feel better, and do it.
You are very young, your whole life is still in front of you. Give yourself a chance. By the way. Even though I don't know you, I would care. Do something positive for yourself, take a hot bath, go for a walk and breath fresh air. If you get worse call a crisis hotline, or come back here and write some more. OK?
And what was really cool was that after a while--and it was a while--I started to feel better. I started to see good things in life again. I started to enjoy little things again. And I realized that those horrible, black hole times really do pass, if you just hang on.
So hang on. Tell yourself anything that keeps you hanging on just one more day. You can get through one more day. Suicide is something you can't take back. Death is always there at the end. Staying alive one more day is the only way you can make anything change. Just live today, and leave tomorrow to tomorrow. And then tomorrow, live one more day. I promise, there are people who would be harmed by your death. And I know you don't want to harm anyone. Find one thing that makes a small difference in how you feel--put on some fuzzy slippers, snuggle with your dog or other pet--or if you don't have one, consider getting one. You can make it through one more day.
I'm thinking of you, and hoping for you, and sending you good vibes.
Take care of yourself today.
**** But I finally figured out that killing myself would seriously harm my family,*****
Congratulaltions! At least you have a family whom you know cares for you. I wish I could say the same. I am 100% sure that mine will be happy. I did too much damage to them., and now I really hate myself, I feel like I want to throw up when I see myself in the mirror. I am crying day and night and looking myself in the mirror, and now I can see that my son is 100% right.
Please, get help.
Fluterify...I've seen you post here quite often in this vein. Why is it exactly that you want to die so much? Is it "just" depression (not to trivialize that in ANY way) or are there other factors in your life that are exacerbating that? Are you in treatment at all? I'm sorry I don't know what your story is completely and would like to understand, okay?
