Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Firstly, Kurt Russel is the man. He doesn't get enough credit. Secondly, I love that ridiculous movie. I don't know why but I think of him talking on the C.B. radio to no-one in particular when I think of me writing on this site. I just type stuff. I vent. I try to encourage. I'm not getting feedback. But it's not hurting my feelings. I guess this is my outlet. I don't know any of you and, even though I'm pretty good at not caring what people think, here it's even more so. I can talk about all the frustrations, disappointments and even the joys without backlash. And even if there were backlash, it's a website: blow me. I'm no-one special enough for any person on the planet to track down and hurt. Hell, I'm not special enough to get a "hello" on my b-day from my close friends. So, why do I feel better? Why am I not upset that I'm becoming even more distant from everything? Nursing school is forcing me to make some big changes.
I watched a TED talk about this guy. He had a common story, had it all; money, degree from prestigious college, blah blah blah. And he hated it. He was silly and fun and that just wasn't allowed with those big time careers. So, he dropped everything and moved to South America for a job opportunity that let him be him.
I can relate. It's difficult to be smart AND goofy. It's difficult to fit in. My problem is accepting who I am. I AM smart even though I down play it regularly. I AM competitive even though I hate the attitudes that come with it. I am a goofy, bald bastard even though I try too many times to conform to make people happy i.e. get them to shutup. So, why do I feel so good right now? Because here, I can be me. I guess. I don't know. I just finished cycling through 20mph headwinds. I'm a little delirious. I think I'll have another banana.

I'm feeling down,, and got alot on my mind right now. I got grief going on, on top my depression and anxiety and now I got to worry about somewhere to live since I can't afford living here since my mom passed. So many bad things have happened since my mom passed. One thing after another it seems. Yesterday our fence fell from a storm that hit, had to call someone to prop it up. Thank...

Do you think anxiety is genetic or comes from your environment? What are your thoughts?
Personally, I really loved him and Goldie Hawn in the movie '' OVERBOARD''. I've seen that movie more times than I can count.
I think I'm smart AND goofy too and I think that's a pretty good combination most of the time. I wish you could accept who you are and didn't feel the need to underplay how smart you are. I know though that it's hard for alot of us who suffer with depression to accept ourselves and not feel or focus on what we perceive to be our shortcomings. I am, however, really glad you're feeling good and that you posted and that you can be yourself here. Yes, you can and I think you sound pretty darn awesome just the way you are. We're all uniquely special in our own ways. Good luck with nursing school.
Hugs~
