Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I am going through a little bout of depression. It is caused by stressing out and over my friend's situation, and what it means to/for me.
For a little background information, one of my best friends is almost 80 years old. Currently, she is still residing in her home, but is going to be moving into an assisted living home near her family (which is great). She has been in her home for nearly 30 some odd years, and obviously been accumulating a lot of things. About 8 years ago, she started declining physically to where she cannot move outside of one room, and even worse to being unable to really move outside of her chair. I believe she is a bit of a hoarder on top of everything. When I first met her she was trying to go through everything in the basement, now 8 years later her basement is worse than it was when I first met her, and almost her entire home is bad to say the least about the cleanliness.
Now, I am super excited that her family is finally insisting on her moving up closer to them, because hopefully she will be able to get the help she needs to actually get a little more comfortable in her life. And be able to do more than sitting in one room declining more and more each week. I am also sort of excited that she has offered for me and my family to rent her house (it is a lot more space than we currently have, for less than what we pay now).
Now for the part that I am depressed about. I am depressed because of all of the things that are in the house. The fact that she wants to go through everything, and keep a lot of it whether she needs it or not. The amount of cleaning that the house needs depresses me even more. To give you a more accurate picture of the home, I can't bring my children into the house for more than a few minutes at a time. The baby is 4 months old, and has been in the house for a total of 5 minutes. My 5 year old can't touch walls, or anything. There are piles of garbage everywhere. And with her there I am afraid that I will never be able to get even the kitchen clean.
I am depressed that I don't know how to tell her that she is probably going to have to move up there with just her cloths and what she uses on a daily basis, and that I will bring up some of her things, but that honestly most her stuff is just junk that needs to be gotten rid of in order to do a deep enough clean just for us to be able to start moving in.

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
But good news... She will probably be up there before the end of the year...Which might mean that we can get in before the end of the year as well...
