Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
but hell what else do I have to do???
but I've been thinking about a little break as well
i'm just tying up loose ends on this site, and then i gotta get off---at 4 in the morning!
yes, Freakchick, hell what else do I--ME--have to do!
thanks GB, for hugs.
and yes, Juice, i've gone bat-shit crazy, though it's good to know i'm not alone in that;)
MY APOLOGIES TO ALL.
Be Well
I think this is a very good site; a very good supportive site. Sometimes, things (people) go awry; just as in the "real world". We all are having our issues and struggles. So we state our "2 cents" and move onward in those cases that go awry. Or just avoid the thread. At least, that's my philosophy that I want to go by.
But, please do check in from time to time. And as often as you are up to it.
I will miss you, if you go away permanently.
(((Hugs)))
This is what I do too. Sometimes the board gets too depressing and I just can't handle it any more. I am here for a few weeks months, then gone for the same amount. It's good to take breaks and go AFK. Next weekend my son has a camping trip that I am going on with him and I will be disconnecting my phones from the wireless connection so I can only use them as cameras. Even going off the damn grid from time to time is nice too. :) I did it a few years back for about 2 weeks and scared the shit out of a lot of people because they couldn't find me. I even disconnected the GPS in my car so no one could locate me.
All the time.
I'm about to go eat lunch.
well said Oldcowboy!
Granted there are some who "pull punches", but not all. And there are many, many good hearted gentle people on here who genuinely feel compassion for those who are suffering because they suffer themselves. I for one am one.
I just don't get this mentality.
Based upon this revelation in this post (not you including you Penn) maybe those of us who try to support and encourage would be better off to invest our time and what energy we can muster elsewhere.
I hate that some feel this way. But, for all of you who "peek in", this is not the case for every member on this site. I get support here; I give support here. Genuine support as best I can, and suggest ways to help resolve situations, if I can. And, I am not alone. You know that, you peek in and read the posts.
Maybe I need to take a break from here.
There seems to be an epidemic of toxic thoughts here.
I don't see the point in discouraging another person from hearing and receiving positive suggestions just because of one's bad experiences. We've all had bad experiences, and most of us don't practice that behavior by passing these defeating thoughts onto others.
You'll get used to it, should you think it is beneficial, and learn to calm your trigger areas in time. The object is to get to where you don't feel the NEED to respond in rabid kind to a person over and over. Make your point within one response if possible which will require you put it exactly as you would stand by no matter the opposition and realize you're human and everyone else is too.
You can be of great help to others with your life experience and vise versa.
