Apparently, I have a very strong Baltimore accent (known here as Bawlmerese)

To me, I can not detect any accent whatsoever, but people were laughing their asses off to the guys accent, so I can only guess I sound like him

HAHA! I laugh my ass off whenever I think about out of state kids coming to Hopkins who can barely understand a local accent.
A lot of people claimed I sounded British. Weird.
My husband who is from the midwest considers my dialect to be mild, but claims that my mom has a very strong dialect. Every once in awhile I will say something that sounds awkward to him.
I never considered myself to have a dialect until I started working at a restaurant near Johns Hopkins University. Many foreigners and students from out of state eat there, and dozens of people just started saying that I had an unusual accent and asked where i was from.
But people in Baltimore are pretty friendly, from what I remember!
Some people tell me I have an accent. Bullshit lol. After I was living in Indiana for about 5 years, I talked to some of my old friends from California and they told me I sounded like a "hillbilly"....pfffft. I have NO accent!
I went on a trip to Tennessee once and we drove to a little town in South Carolina for lunch one day. LOL....I could NOT understand anything the waitress said. I had to have the gal I was with be an interpreter. Now THAT was an accent!
It's a very middle-America kind of accent, it's nice! (It's thicker when you're swearing....)
