Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
My name is Sissie
My heart goes out to you as I've been stuck in that dark place that you are in. Actually I'm currently fighting to stay out of the dark place.
Can you look for the light? Even if it's just a little flicker of light.
Here, I am burning some light for you ok?
Naltrexone, which is a medicine that's given to people addicted to Narcotics and Alcohol, can help with Eating Disorders. It's an Opioid Blocker and works on the Pleasure Center of your brain, the same part that gets activated by your Eating Disorder cravings/desires. You could ask your Nurse/Practioner about trying it. It can be taken in conjunction with most other Psych meds, probably with the one that's helping you.
As for the other...its sounds like your trying to get a handle on many things at once....and that can be really hard when your dealing with Depression and an Eating Disorder. Sometimes you have to take a step back and deal with one thing at a time.
The good thing is, you still have your reasoning capabilities, you've proven that by telling us your situation. You can see all the things you need to do, but aren't. So pick one, one thing and start doing that each day. Just wake up and brush your teeth. Do that for a day or two, then when that doesn't seem so overwhelming, take a shower, then after a day or two add the next thing. Trying to do everything can be very overwhelming, but breaking things down into smaller pieces can seem more easily attainable.
Do you Journal? Writing things down in a Journal each day, emptying your mind of all the bad/sad/scary/angry/frustrating thoughts and clearing your mind can be very, very helpful. When you empty your head of all that negativity you then have room to put some positive, inspiring self talk in there. You can motivate yourself, will yourself to get up and do that one thing each day. You don't have all those negative things from the day before clogging up your head, hanging out and making things worse....their written down in your Journal where they have no power over you anymore. Feelings and Emotions are very powerful, but you have the Power to decide where they go and how much Power they have.
You can do this, your strong, small steps, one thing at a time....
Take care,
Kat
