Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

So I've been working with this life coach who has been supposedly helping me with this job search process. I text and call her for moral support and it has helped, until now. She offered to do a mock interview with me, and we did, it was an hour, so pretty exhaustive. After I did not get the job, I let her know. I was crushed when I didn't get it because it was something I really wanted and an organization I wanted to get into for a long time. That was Friday evening I got the rejection email and I let her know. She replied that it was quick. Out of the blue, on Saturday morning, I get an unsolicited text message from her telling me in this very exasperated tone at about 9 AM in the morning: "J, the reason you are not passing these interviews is because you exude fear." (their lifecoach org harps on fear a lot)
I was really angry. I felt like she was dropping a bomb on me. I was already so low and it pushed me lower. The fact is that I was not feeling fearful and anxious in the inteview, I was feeling really confident and like I was owning it-I usually do due to the preparation that I bring to it so I was really angry. I felt like she was shoving me when I was already down. I don't feel like further interaction with her is going to be helpful. I usually do my mock interviews with AI in voice mode, and she told me that I needed to do them with a person for a human touch and to make a connection. That is fine.
What I didn't like at all is that we were talking about different students I worked with in my profession, and she was telling me to put more emotion into it. I had to say that I needed to keep it professional because some of these examples were of students I was helping, and the outcome was not always positive-some students passed away from overdose or failed out-not all are success stories, and sometimes I start crying or tearing up when I think of them. Some professional detachment is necessary. She actually told me that crying in the interview would be a good thing and that it would build a connection. I thought that was quite unprofessional, toxic and frankly very manipulative. Not to mention it would end the interview immediately. It sounded like insanity and I really started to wonder about her. I don't think I will be calling or talking to her much more. I was alright texting and talking to her until we did this mock interview, it was almost like she was blaming me for not getting the job, when in fact we don't know the actual reasons why.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....
