I couldn't tell if this was depression or anxiety related...
I don't have access to a car when I'm not working and I live with my parents. It's not fun. So I usually write poetry, watch Netflix, or listen to music. In order to make my poetry music, I have to update my software (it costs $600). But my parents keep telling me to write chords on my guitar and piano. But writing is something I have to do alone and my parents are always there (And I'm medically unable to live alone).
My parents tell me I'm unmotivated. I'm a musician and I want to go further and perform but I don't feel like I have the ability to--no car, no software to make MY type of music-- and my parents are saying I'm not going to go anywhere if i keep doing this.
Am I making excuses? Am I avoiding this?? I've dreamt about making music my whole life, and now that it's here am I running away from it?

I'm over thinking this...

What are you wanting? To be a music writer? Song writer? To have your music/sings published?
I'm sure many people become published with out a lot of fancy software to help them along.

You make your own living somehow?
If not, $600.00 is a lot of money. Maybe your parents are financially OK, so its not a problem.
I think there's a lot of details not said here. So its difficult for us to back you up or give more advice.
My son is 17 and the condition to him driving was him paying for his insurance. To earn money before a car, he had to get there by biking. Not fun in 100 degree heat, or 6 inches of snow...but doable.
Other options are babysitting, doing housework, etc.
At minimum wage it takes quite a while to save up the money, but he values greatly everything he chooses to buy.
It's possible that if you earn half the money, your parents might kick in the other half if they can afford it (As seamus said, $600 is a lot of money to many people...even $300 is quite a bit.)
Your 19, your an adult, just because you live with your parents doesn't mean they control your every move, thought, emotion, etc. Yes I'm sure there are house Rules that they expect you to abide by, that's normal. But if you want to spend money you earn to do something you enjoy and are trying to turn into a career, it doesn't matter what they think, do what you think is best for you. Parents are always going to have an opinion, it doesn't mean its always the right opinion.
I have 2 sons, a 28 yr old whose a Fireman, and a 19 yr old whose in University. I don't always agree with everything either of them plan or think is the right thing to do or right path to take, but they're adults, my opinion is just that, my opinion, they make their own decisions and live by the success and/or consequences of those decisions.
