Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Atleast that got me to laugh, more valuable than currency when you're depressed.
I don't believe a medically depressed person can comprehend apathy because they are too consumed by it.
Apathy is depression, so if you have to think if you're apathetic and you have been diagnosed depressed and you can fully answer with conviction, you're probably not depressed, that's great news, I'd kill someone not to be depressed, sad, but so true. That's my apathy talking.
For me it all comes back to abuse, rejection, and false judgment. I am a victim of other's hate and harm and it scarred me to the point where I became them, they failed me as teachers when I had an open mind and I'll never recover. That's the truth, and that's why I am apathetic chronically. It could have been prevented, that's the most frustrating part.
That's just sort of like background information I've found though. The purpose is to continue to try to improve even though the harm wasn't a product of my making. From the grace of God I am able to see who I really am, and it has more substance than who other's told me I was or think I am. That in itself releases feeling, therefore creating hope and then my senses are opened. It's rare, but it's really all I have to look forward to in life, the world and it's people's ways really depress me, because the world has abused me. It's like a friend who uses you, eventually the sight of them makes you unhappy if the abuse continues. Common thought teaches if something is wrong with a person it's their fault and their responsibility to fix it, and this is not true, it's just a big assumption, why do you think assholes reach the top the fastest?
My natural condition is apathy, that is the result of abuse and false judgment or rejection, that is the reality, I'm not sad like most depressed people are looked at as, I can't even understand what sad means as a norm.
So to be apathetic to me is expected, I'll prove it to you by saying I had to look up the definition even though I'm smart enough to see and know if you replace the "a" in apathy with "sym" you get sympathy, and I am sick of sympathy, and loath empathy. A pat on the back or a hug isn't going to improve my appetite to the point where I value eating, empathy just reminds me of what I became. A pat on the back isn't going to make me want to not think of dying, eventually it all becomes one big lipservice and mockery becomes the temptation.
If you can clearly understand and analyze apathy, there is hope for improving yourself from your own means, if you don't really care but more so are exhausted from trying, apathy I think would be a good description.
Some people call it numb, some call it hopeless, but being apathetic I have no will or power to call it anything, it just is. People ask me how I am and I just throw my hands up in habit like "I really don't know" because I have an emotional scar called apathy calling the shots.
It's past not caring, I more so just exist. I was in the shower yesterday and my only avenue towards reason for my apathy is that I am a walking example to others that their life isn't that bad. Currently that is my purpose in life it seems, but more so my apathy tells me it's true. I wouldn't go so far to say I worship apathy, but I will say I've had no choice but to accept it because it's really all I know and deal with daily.
I don't say life sucks to complain, I say life sucks because it seems like a fitting description for this apathetic circumstance. I can say life sucks with no irritation of anger, that to me seems apathetic.
It's taken years, but as I sit here right now, my goal in life is not typical, even though I desperately want it to be so, my goal in life is to just keep trying, but not be surprised when I screw up. That's how I cope. It's actually a gift in disguise because contrary to the elite alpha males and females of power, failure is more valuable than success more often than not. Success to me is an hour of feeling and laughter, success to them is a new house and a promotion. My success leaves me content and I grow from it, their success leaves them wanting more.
I am not of this world and after apathy am happy I am not, I don't know if this is right or wrong because of the apathy, which to most is more sociopathical, but to me is the live I was given and I'm dealing with it, but I honestly don't know why.
So my thoughts on apathy aside from trying to sound normal and tell people what they want to hear are literally nothing at all, I think nothing of apathy because I am apathetic as a norm.
thanks for the inspiration.
