Valentine's day is just another commercialised day....
SPEND heaps to show how much you love 'him' or 'her'....
IMHO it's the little things (day to day) that show 'love'!
And (LOL) don't get me started on Mothers Day!!!!!!!! Aaaahhhh! What kid has $500.00 to spend on what the TV commercials 'tell' them they have to buy to 'show' their love!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aaaahhhhh!
Ive been married for 14yrs. Valentines Day is special to us for a few reasons, he proposed on Valentines Day in 1998, I started my own business on Valentines Day in 2004 and he got hired at a really good company, his first day of work was Valentines Day 2011.
I used to demand flowers and candy every VDay. Now that Im dieting-- no candy! But this year, even with all of the special things that happened in our life on Feb 14, even if it was just out of coincidence, I dont care. I dont need to celebrate that day of make believe. Like Christmas, its just a day, one day, it cant hurt you if you dont let it. It will be over soon enough. Yes you have to listen to the annoying ppl talk about what they got or did. But you dont have to let them bring you down. I totally forgot it was Valentines Day coming up until I saw this post and it reminded me to send out a card to my one and only niece (i have no kids of my own). So make it special in your own way, or dont. Just forget the date for a day. Or get yourself something special. Make it what you will.
My sister married a man that already had a child, so they would always celebrate Valentines day by going out to dinner as a family.
Just a thought.
I agree though, that I could make the day what i want it to be. Maybe something little would be good.
If people are in a relationship and happy, that great! But why do they feel the need to wave it in the faces of everyone who isn't in a relationship?
I'm not looking forward to this Valetines day, it's the first one since..... since the trouble. :(
I juts keep reminding myself it's only 24 hours, and that I can bear that.
Over all the 14th not my favorite day. I imagine it's going to be a day I try to avoid in the future celebrating. I can't help but feel some responsibly for her actions.
