Do any of you out there think that their animal or someone elses animal is bipolar ? I mean really, look at some of those pitbulls out there, they can be fine for a long time and then turn on anyone? Just makes me wonder.. How bout you...

Growing up we had a Dalmatian. I think he was schizophrenic. If anyone has ever owned a Dalmatian they know what I'm talking about.

I know cats can have depression issues. My vet told my mother that her cat was depressed, and they can even perscribe meds for it!! I think anything that has a brain can have mental health issues. I would think they have the same neurotransmitters that humans have because they do have a brain.

It seems to happen the most with breeds bred for fighting. It's in their genes. You can raise them well, but you have to keep in mind, if you own a fighting breed that impulse will be there. I am not against owning fighting breeds. I've met may wonderful Pitbulls and Akita's in my time. But I acknowledge that fighting is still there in their psyche.

Ellei- I was bitten by a crazy Dalmatian I was dog sitting. The fact is they are a very inbred breed and often suffer mental illnesses. This dog would get terrified, suddenly and with no cause, that's how I got bitten.

My son was bit by his fathers great dane and had to get his ear stiched back on. The dog had bit a couple of people before but not as bad. They had to put the dog down but before they did they found out he had problems in his brain...

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus).
