Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Good luck with it...we're here if you need us.
Someone I do love and care about does NOT care if they self destruct because they cannot grow a pair and stand up for themselves from abusive treatment and family blackmail. I feel like crap...but I cannot stand by and be a part of it anymore....for months and months and months I have truly tried to be a voice of reason (not that I was always right) but it stops here because I cannot enable someone to continue down the path of self destruction and co dependency that they are on. They won't even take care of themselves properly (physically and emotionally)....but will bend over backwards for other people and can NOT say no.
It kills me to have to do it, but I have to....for their good and for mine. It is NOT healthy for either of us, mostly them, in that scenario....so I gotta do what I gotta do but it does anger me and makes me sad.....and VERY aggravated.
:(
And, I'm really desperate and needy at the moment. I can barely motivate myself to do anything.
I'm isolating myself, even from my parrot, and parrots require constant interaction with people or they'll get depressed and pluck out their feathers. My mom had a friend whose eclectus was depressed and plucking out his feathers, so they had to give him antidepressants. I don't want to be the cause of putting my beloved parrot through what I'm going through but I really can't help it at the moment. I'll try harder to spend more time with him...
And since I'm so unmotivated, I'm really not looking forward to going to my volunteer job at the pet shelter today. I just want to lie in bed all day, go to sleep and never wake up again...
I think it's okay to simply call your brother for his birthday. That's usually what everyone in my family does if they are not able to see each other on their birthdays. I'm completely sure that your brother would understand that you aren't able to get together with him on his birthday because he is too busy and I'm sure that he'll greatly appreciate simply receiving a call from you. Besides, it's the thought that counts. Also, I think it would be especially nice for you to send him a card in the mail. Perhaps, a musical card? I know doing this is extremely old-fashioned but it's an extremely polite and thoughtful thing to do. I've heard that people really appreciate these kinds of things since not many people do these things anymore. In fact, you're supposed to send a thank you card after a job interview and it greatly increases the chance that you'll get the job. My 8th grade teacher received a job only because she sent a thank you card after her interview. The point is sending a card in the mail is a very thoughtful and kind thing to do that people greatly appreciate. It's okay if your brother's birthday card arrives a little late; it's the thought that counts the most and not if the card arrives on the exact day.
The one time I've copied topics in the past, I stated that it wasn't my own and I gave the person who wrote it credit by mentioning their username. Next time you copy a topic, I think it would be polite for you to mention the username of the person who originally created it. Can you do that next time, please?
Thanks for posting the topic. Big hugs to you
I'm sorry about what both of you are going through...hugs are coming.
I have been triggered all day long. I should just go have a good cry. Thanks for letting me tell some people who care.
Like going on every week here.
Why do children even have guns available like that.
I grew up around guns, started target shooting at age 10. I've taught all my boys, never left guns laying around the house. They were not available to me at random either. Target shooting as a sport.
Why do these kids have access to guns? And some are skilled, parents taught them. They loaded the guns and shot another child.
I don't get it. My sister irritates me to no end, and guns in the house. I would not even THINK of shooting her. Kids today will do it. They take guns to school, and all that.
OK...rant over.
Glad my kids not caught up in anything like that. My heart breaks every time I see it in the news. And it keeps happening.
But thanks for doing it, and thanks, ML, for suggesting it...you're both very kind :)
Really really fucken aggravated tonite that 3 days of doing relatively well went right down the damn toilet because I let myself become triggered by...I don't even know what. I went from pretty happy to "life sucks and I wanna die (not literally) in about 2 hours. Raged around for another few hours. Slowly coming down now but still angry, and really hate feeling this way. I want me back.
Aggravating as shit.
