Just putting it out there...
Does it ever get anyone down when they realize that a person is not interested in your for you? When you realize that the reason a person is pursuing getting to know you has a specific end in mind?
I guess it shouldn't bother me too much...however...I suppose I have the right to be skeptical, and I'm glad that I am, if I'm being realistic based on prior experiences, that not everyone is what they seem.
Recently I made a new 'friend' who was inviting me to things, etc. I wasn't sure we had lot in common, and then when I looked up and researched a group that she was going to, that she had invited me to, it turned out to be a documented cult. A money-making scam. I had a feeling. It seemed like she was rather intolerant and close-minded about some things, and my inkling was confirmed. Her invitation to such things is not an open door to anything good.
These days I am believing more in 'reasons' for things. Like when my car broke down and I could not meet her for one of these events. I was upset at the closed door and the blockage in my pathway, only to realize that I was lucky.
She comes to my house to cut my hair. I don't want to get rid of her as a hairdresser, but, I don't want any participation in this nonsense. Maybe I should feel thankful, not depressed, that I know the truth ahead of time. It's better to know the truth than to believe the lie that someone is interested in you or your well being. I can be thankful that I am wiser, and less needy. It's ok that she is not interested in true friendship-in me-that she is involved with an organization that wants my money and my brain. I hate to be so negative, but the reality is that the world is brimming with crooks. And it's good to know this, because crooks just love people who have any tendency to be depressed. It's easy prey. Such is life. I know better and can move on. Generally, I think crooks pretend to care about you and your well being. How pathetic.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Several years ago I stepped down as leader of a volunteer group. We announced my successor at the annual volunteer party. I was standing with a friend and after the announcement we could literally see people maneuvering for position to get to talk to the new leader.
It was a riot, especially because some people were so obvious about it! It was also interesting because my friend and I saw no surprises in who was maneuvering the most!
I am sorry that this happened to you. On the good side, your gut instincts seemed spot on even before the real reason for her "friendship" became obvious. Sounds like you have a good gut instinct!!!
