I know this sounds ridiculous, but I've finally made a doctors appointment after 4 years of feeling this way. I think it is due to feeling a bit silly saying to my doctors that It has took so long to make this step. I also have been very confused about the cycle of my depression, and convinced myself that It couldn't be depression. By saying this, I mean that my depression is all over the place and has no clear cycle. I can be fine one day, depressed the next day.. or month. Fine for months, depressed for a couple of days. It can even come on within hours or If I have a nap and wake up. I almost feel like I don't really have real depression and feel I am ridiculous for labelling myself with something that people have to struggle with on a daily basis, where I know my depression has always passed.. so I've just dealt.
However, when I do feel depressed I cannot sleep, have random crying spells, have a general negative outlook on my life ( e.g, I have no friends because nobody likes me or I'm a bad person, I'm a failure because I can't get a job and everybody else can, comparing myself to other people in looks and lifestyle). I'll feel like I've been trying to turn my situation around for years and It's never going to happen to me, and I'm going to be friendless and have no hobbies or life forever. However when I feel normal, I will feel very motivated to turn my situation around and apply for lots of jobs, be wanting to try out a lot of hobbies, and am generally quite self confident. I am not scared of my boyfriend leaving, something that is a major issue for me when I'm feeling depressed. I have recently felt suicidal because he's withdrawn from me whilst I've been depressed. The differences between how I feel when I do feel depressed compared to when I'm feeling normal is honestly like night and day.
I was just curious whether anybody has any suggestions what is going on with me or if anybody has had similar experiences? I've not read anything like this anywhere. This may be hopeful, but If I was treated for depression.. would all these negative feelings go and I'd get my self confidence back or is it just not that simple? Also, what is a doctor likely to suggest for me? I've even recently thought that this may be due to taking the contraceptive pill Microgynon 30 and have read some similar stories and would probably explain the weird cycles of my moods. I have even read the information sheet and it says it can induce depression and anxiety in every 1 in a 100 people. I was never told this. Does anybody else think this could be the issue?

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
My cycles are also unpredictable, sometimes lasting for MONTHS, and sometimes just for part of the day...it just depends. On what? I have no idea.
Making an appointment with your GP is a big step, and one in the right direction. You should feel really proud of yourself for making it. I hope it helps!
I feel the same without friends, hobbies and a job. But this too shall pass and I will get there and you too. Hugs & prayers.
really help much and any AD is only successful for about 60% of people. There are plenty of others to try. Only bad thing is the side effects are the worst during the first couple of weeks , before youre
getting the benefit, so you have to stick with it. I recommend seeing a psychiatrist if you can , because they are the experts. But your family doc is a good place to start.
Your doc will probably want you to try a med or take you off the pill. Hope the appointment goes well.
