Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

my case manager set me up with a peer counsolor to help me file for disability... i met with him last month and all he could do was write down on a peice of paper that i wanted him to help me and have me sign it... then we had to wait for someone else to sign something and that was gonna take a month
but whatever, the whole process was supposed to take 2 months to get it filed, and i have a really hard time with these things so i said ok fine
now today he calls me and says he lost my appointment... not only that, but instead of it taking 2 months, now hes talking about it taking 5 months just to file (then another year for it to get approved, is what i keep getting told)
it costs me about $20 in gas to get there and back... and i have to do that twice this week already... and obviously, im broke, or i wouldnt be filing for disability in the first place
i knew this was gonna be a waste of time...
i hate not being the incompetent one in the treatment program!
i'll be filing a complaint today and probably telling them to just forget the whole thing, this is absolutely rediculous
guess its time to find a cozy spot in the woods to live

Do you think anxiety is genetic or comes from your environment? What are your thoughts?

Many of you know Mr K told me to "shut your mouth" in March 2025 when we took a road trip to Alpena Michigan. Since that time, we have had lots of ups and downs but I have never intentionally hurt Mr K in anyway. And when we first started dating in 2024 he let me know, although he is an engineer by degree, he has an extremely low EQ. Overall, he is ok (not off the charts nice like other guys in...

Let them know that you really need help NOW, not 5 months or a year from now.
Gentle hugs
except that thats the guy i have to go to for help and hes an idiot
the case manager will just send me to him... i have a therapist there but all she'll do is listen to me gripe about it... and then the psychiatrist who will only dope me up till i forget how bad my situation is (er well, no she wont, but if she could do anything, thats what it would be)... so its him or nothing
and since hes completely incompetent, i guess its nothing
yay
glad i wasted the last few months!
i remember making the freakin appointment with him!!!
sorry for all the exclamation marks, but im not happy :(
I'm so sorry.. that completely SUCKS!! I agree with PepperMan.. file the complaint ASAP and let them know that you were totally misled and that YOU didn't lose your appointment! Who are you meeting with twice this week? your case manager? I may be confused some on who dropped the ball, but I think it was the peer counselor, right? Your case manager is supposed to be your advocate, correct? If the case manager isn't doing their job then can you ask for a new one?
None of that may even matter, but I know how beyond frustrated you have to be and I am so sorry this is happening. I hope and pray you can get something done to speed things up.

I would look for legal aid in your area and see if you could get a lawyer to help you. Or look for social resources. There are some places that will help you for free. I found out my insurance through medical assistance offers help with filing, but of course I found out after I did it on my own.
i just got back from seeing my therapist... i complained to her but of course she couldnt do anything to help... i see my case manager on friday, assuming i can come up with the gas money to get there
it was the peer counsoler who dropped the ball... i told my therapist im done with him, in no uncertain terms (luckily, i suppose, shes heard all my cuss words before... i might have to come up with some new ones)
honestly i dont think filing an official complaint will help any... but maybe my case manager can get the guy some more training or something... he seems like a nice enough guy, and really seems like he wants to help... hes just an idiot (or was that day at least!)... i dont want to cost him his job, i just want others to get the help they need... but i wont bother seeing him again... if she (the case manager) insists i see a peer counsoler, i'll see a different one
i already changed psychiatrists there just because i couldnt understand the first one's accent (i have bad hearing and his accent is thick)
i guess my next step is to find a lawyer who can help from the initial filing... ive seen them advertised on tv, but im of the mindset that if youre a lawyer who has to advertise on tv, you must not be a very good lawyer... so i need to find a way to decide on a lawyer to help.. and i have no idea how to do that
ive been told i can do the initial filing myself, for free, right at the office... but i have no idea how to find that office... and legal documents (even things like books or long posts that arent broken into paragraphs) just kinda turn to fuzz when i try to read them...
the best way i can describe it is to compare it to the onset of a migraine headache... when your eyes go to crap... you can see the stuff there but if you try to concentrate on it, it just ... goes to fuzz...
maybe someone else can put that into better words for me
anyway, thanks for reading... and thanks for all the hugs... i hope some of this has made some kinda sense
*hugs* all around
i havent filed yet, was hoping they'd help me with that, and then steer me tword a lawyer after it got denied
i dont know how to find a reputable lawyer, and id like someone to explain to me how its not in the lawyers best interest to drag your case out as long as he can, since he gets a % of the backpay... the more backpay, the more he gets paid..
ive been told to expect it to take at least a year... and i dont have what it takes to make it a year... i'll be homeless and starving long before then, and the woods is a much better place to be than the city when youre broke... specially when you live in detroit
