Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
"Men speak conveniently of love when it serves their purpose. When it doesn't, it's a burden to them." -Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Robin Hood-Prince of Thieves
Mary's character's quote pretty much sums it up to me. Sometimes, I need love, sometimes it, and the responsibilities associated with it, being there for another person, really listening to them, even though their depressing rants and negativity bring me down, are taxing.
I think HEALTHY love shouldn't be a burden, but should bring joy and pleasure. It involves pushing...beyond the pain, being confident that there's pleasure, and humor on the other side of the pain.
If we pander completely to each other, and allow ourselves to sink too deeply into our own deep emotional well, we get too soft...and lazy...DEEPER into depression.
Love, and life itself, for that matter, requires discipline, a routine of work and exercise, to maintain health.
