Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
If we could not solve human problems with human solutions... then what exactly is science? How are we making advancements and gaining of the understand of the physical world everyday?
I am not saying that every single question has been answered, and not every single question has been asked. I do know that back in the day and even now people place blame of natural destruction, and bad things on god or satans wrath. People used to think that earthquakes were punishment from god. Then they realized that plates in the earths crust shifts, and shit happens.
They prized luck, because with out it... you were essentially screwed. They were not brough up to beleive the partridge family/disney bs that we see as reality now. They realized that life was hard, its not fair, its dangerous and nature will kill you. Thats the beauty of life, is that its precious... not because its perfect.
I am not saying belief in something higher than yourself is wrong either. But to give something outside of yourself govern how YOU feel on the inside, is. Because then you will just be like everyone else in the world that uses something as a crutch.
When you rely on something else for your strength, its hard to find the inner strength that you already have.
I am living this motto today,
LET GO AND LET GOD.
I try not to analyze it too much. I accept that it is a mystery of faith. It works for me in MY life.
For yourself, WhatLife, keep exploring what works for you in your life. Big hugs for your journey.
i say let people who want to believe in god believe in god, but you have every right to disbelif, and do what you can and do what you need to do to better yourself.
your life, your path. you dictate how you want to live it.
there is a God. regardless of if you believe it or not, it makes no difference. he is real...
my life is as big a mess as the next persons here. i don't blame God. why would i?? he gave me free choice.. this is the thing people forget. man has the free choice to wreck havoc on themselves, as i have done, and many others have done. to me this world is a testing ground for better things to come. most of us live as if this is the only place that exists. our minds are so small we can't accept that there is a being that is all knowing and that gave us life. so we reject his love and his mercy. people like me are even worse. i know better and still try to make my life work on my own strength..
perhaps i am simple minded. the world has become almost impossible. this is understood. what do most people do? they blame God. he is not to blame. we have the free choice to accept his love and mercy or go it alone.. i waver back and forth. this is called " lukewarm" in the bible.. makes him sicker than if i rejected him all the way...
i am seeking to not be in this place i find myself. i wish to be back in good standing. just have so much hardness from so much pain. the pain throws a big detour sign up in the road of life. to me this why people blame God. he never said life would be easy. he said he would be there to ease the pain.
God is long suffering and does not wish any to perish.. to me this is why his patience is so enduring.. the key is " free choice" here. free choice to either believe or not believe. to start wars or not start them. to hate or not to hate. so on and so forth... it isn't his fault. he gave us a brain and the choice to make our own decisions.
still people blame God for the heartache. the pain and the evils in this world. for all the religious wars fought in his name. those wars are not done in the one true God's name. they are done in the name of religion. religion means nothing. God is love.. anything less is not of him..
i fall so short of what i am saying here. i don't pretend to be where i need to be in life. i blame myself and others at times for my problems. man has the inner desire for the most part to rebel against goodness. we all have this inside at times. we feel hatred at times as well as love. this is the human nature.
also " whatlife" you are far from being the atheist.. you are grieving for the void you feel... just my opinion.. you will find your way..
as bad as things are at times i can not see a world without the knowledge that God is here no matter how wayward i may be.. he is seeking me to come back. watching my steps. loving me in spite of myself... peoples opinions don't matter. not even mine... it's just words.
i have seen those that believe on their death beds and the peace they have at that moment. i have also seen those that never believe and the fear in that moment that will stay with you as long as you live...
Science believe it or not has proven that their is a God...
and have you read or seen the documentary/book: The Case for Christ...
Written by a american journalist who was an atheist and set out to prove through extensive research that their is no God...and wound up realizing that it couldn't be done...
There is a God...just read the lyrics to this song and see all the amazing things God has done...
There is a God...and he loves you and wants the best for you...but that can only come through belief and faith in him and through a one-on-one relationship with HIM!
93 million miles from the blistering surafce of the sun hangs the planet earth.
A rotating sphere perfectly suspended in the center of the universe. The ultimate creation from an infinate mind. An unbelievably intricate complex design. A supernatural testimony, an irrefutable sign that there is a God.
The size, position and angle of the earth is a scientific phenomenon to see.
A few degrees closer to the sun we'd disintegrate, a few degrees further, we'd freeze.
The axis of the earth is titled at a perfect 23 degree angle and it's no mistake that it is.
This allows equal global distribution to the rays of the sun making it possible for the food chain to exist.
Or take for example the combination of nitrogen and oxygen in the atmosphere we breathe every day. It just happens to be the exact mix that life needs to prosper, it doesn't happen on any other planet that way.
You see, the Bible says the invisible things of God are seen through His creation, to believe this is not hair. If there's a design, there's a designer, if there's a plan, there's a planner and if there's a miracle, there is a God.
CHORUS:
There is a hope, there is a light
There is an answer to all answers
There is a flame that burns in the night
And I know, I know, I know there is a God
The Scripture says the heavens decalre the glory of God and the skies proclaim the work of His hands. If we allow our minds to drink in all the truth that surrounds the truth that just surrounds us, creation itself with help us understand.
Did you know the moon controls the tides, it's the maid that cleans the oceans. Even the waves don't crash the shores in vain. The tides drag impurities from the depths of the sea, it's nature's constrant recycling chain.
It simply boggles the mind to think that the stars will rotate with such exact precision that it's true. That the atomic clock with an error factor of less than three seconds per millenium is set by the way we move.
Though they silently orbit, the sun, the moon, the stars are like celestial evangelists above. Who circle the earth every 24 hours shouting in every languages that there is a God.
Atheism is the wedge under the foundation of our faith, trying to topple our relationship with Christ. When the fool said in his heart, there is no God, he rejects the truth God painted on the canvas of the night. Atheism has never created an artistic masterpiece, never healed a fatal disease or calmed a fear. Atheism has never still given answers to our existence, peace to a troubled mind or even dried a tear.
For it's God who created heaven and earth and flung the stars in space and breathed in the handful of dirt and it became a man. It's God who sits on the circle of the earth and measures the mountains in a scale, and holds the seven seas in the palm of His hand. It's God who sent His only begotten Son to the cross of Calvary to save our souls from Hell and the grave. It's God who creates, God who delivers, God who heals and God who is worthy of a thunderous ovation of praise.
CHORUS(2x)
There is a God, there is a God
And I know, I know, I know there is a God

I don't think it's anything vindictive - but if we are so at peace with our beliefs why must we try to persuade others of them? Personal beliefs cannot be harmful including religion, until we try to make others feel guilty or insecure for not conforming to ours. I will give an expression of what I have learnt from evidence in my life so far..and my intention is not for anyone to imitate it unless it is something that they find a way to relate to it.
This person said that they were happy with what they discovered. Why are we trying to tell them what to think?
"There is a God...and he loves you and wants the best for you...but that can only come through belief and faith in him and through a one-on-one relationship with HIM!
Or what? Hell? I have a direct grievance with something that relies on our fears and insecurities for support. I wouldn't tell you what to think, but advise you to do what you feel is most beneficial to you - and that is something very complicated, but from what I read in your post you are experiencing the fear and insecurity associated by the loss of something within your reality. This is in no way dissimilar from say, finding out your parter cheated on you and doesn't love you anymore - or is no longer commited. These are things we come to emotionally rely on, when they are lost or fade, the fear is natural but can do us good and allow us to re-evaluate our position - something went wrong - now's the time to be honest with ourselves about what it was and draw something positive from it.
My best friend keeps going back to a girlfriend that has cheated on him and has created a strange relationship where he is made to feel incredibly insecure, even unable to be or express himself, having to conform to her desires or ideals.
I personally see religion as any other societal dogma - communism, socialism, liberal or conservative, or even the love of a country. Subsribing to any of them can only limit you - both intellectually and socially. There is empirical evidence for this though, if you're able to be free of emotional denial - you can look at history - you can look at things rationally and see how these things have operated and what purpose they've served and it is ultimately regression. Some positives come out of some religious teachings - but as someone once said (the name is irrellevant!)
'Christianity is a great idea - when are they gonna put it into practice?'
For as seen in this post, everyone has a different 'opinion' on what is supposedly the same thing.
Do you believe in God?
...Which one?
Powerout: Thank you for your contribution. I intended this conversation to be a reflection of my grieving time and I do intend it to be as such. As I have mentioned before I have gotten closer to my conclusion and feel more at peace with it. I appreciate the overwhelming supportive comments and points of view and I find it offensive when people add their 2 cents of negative comments.
You must pray daily and read his word daily and fellowship withother believers. You must also worship him and put him at the top of your list. When I take the ime to do that , my depression goes away and things really start to do good. It is a hard thing to do and people find it easier to say he doesn't exsist or that he just doesn't care.
This world is this way because we have turned our back on him as a Nation and the only way this nation is going to get better is by inviting hm back in. Our Forefathers of this country founded this Nation on GOD!!!!! Why do you think everything says "IN GOD WE TRUST " on it.
Did you know before the "old" Senate and Congress satrted their sessions they all would take time to pray for the leading of the HOLY SPIRIT first?? I think if people would read about our Counrty and how it was made they would see the fine print of GODS handi work. I believe and yes I still have struggles, he does not promise us a life free of them. Most Evangelists you see on the TV today they are Fake. For it is written the in the latter days there will be many fake pprphets and priests. They will judged for it too and them and Christians that walk around smoking, drinking and cussing also give people a sick sense of what following God really means.
I know I use to be a drunk and drug addict for half of my life until I met Jesus and let him in to my heart. And the one that posted she now LETS GO AND LETS GOD, you go girl!!!!
