My sister just sent me a message last night stating that her blood work found her to be slightly low in cortisol. She has a tumor (likely endo) on her adrenal gland which i'm guessing is causing it. Still, growth hormone deficiency runs in the family and I am worried it is something severe like Addisons. Her e-mail said something about treatment being risky and dangerous and that she would rather her lifespan be shortened and not be in pain then to live a full life in pain. Is she trying to tell me something? She is very heavily medicated and is very much out of it, but still scary. Also, I myself read the symptoms of Addisons and I swear I have every single symptom except for skin discoloration. It describes me to a T. Now i'm worried I could have it. Probably just all in my head, but I know my pain and fatique isn't. Could I have Addisons? And, I am petrified of losing my sister who is ridiculously ill.

you can't convince an addict to do anything. she'll have to want to change, and then, with the types of drugs she's on, it would most likely take a hospitalized detox.

the doctor's who prescribed this combo should have their licenses yanked. methadone and oxycontin alone is a brutal combo.

I have the asshole doctor's name. Considering filing a complaint. I also forgot to mention that her endocrinologist also has her on a crapload of different Chinese herbal medicines. She is a walking pharmacy.

When my best friend was in the hospital for hip replacement, they had her so drugged up she didn't know if she was coming or going. I told the hospital that I was her sister and I wanted her slowly taken off the pain medication. It was doing her more harm then good. I don't think these doctors and nurses even think with their heads sometimes! It disgusts me.

The disgusting thing is that all of these meds, with the exception of one or two, are all prescribed by one single endocrinologist. He has her so druged up that she is constantly passing out and on numerous occasions have banged her head upon falling. She also fell down the stairs once. Something needs to be done about this 'doctor' and I need to find some way to convince my sister to ween off of these narcotics with the aid of a reliable doctor. The question is, how on earth does one go about doing this?
