Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

UGH!...I am so Frustrated right now....had a very long week last week....and now I am just drained....
completely drained of any little energy I had stored up... I went to bed late last night but woke up early today (5:45)...I just laid in bed ...tossing and turning... and thinking about ALL the crap I have to do today and this week but don't feel like doing...I just got up out of bed at 7am to take my meds... turned on my music, my computers, brushed my teeth, got my water and sat down at my desk...
NOW!...I am sitting here writing this journal .... and still haven't taken my meds ... JUST DON"T FEEL LIKE DOING ANYTHING....just writing this is frustrating and exhausting....DEEP SIGH....UGH!
Yesterday @ church I wrote the following prayer request :
For the last 15 months I have been struggling with various physical and mental health issues. And today as I sit here I just feel so far away from GOD. Please pray for me for the next few weeks months.
...of course I didn't submit it...it makes me sound like such a weak baby!...and like a complete failure
...I can't reveal that side of me....but ....it is how I feel....
Last night, a DS Friend here updated his status: "Angry...Depressed...Alone" ---that's exactly how I feel...actually that's how I've felt for a very long time...and I hate it!!!...this is not who I am...I miss myself...does that make sense to anyone? ....I used to tell my addict husband that and I he never understood it ...he used to say: "I am always here!...If I am not at work, I am at home! How can you miss me? ...well I can because the addict personality is the one who is here...and I don't like that person...I like the sober guy I met and fell in love with many years ago!...THAT is who I miss....not the guy who is always here...but is emotionally abusive to me all the time and does a very good job at making me feel unloved and unworthy....that's who I miss....AND I miss my old self....I miss my strong, self-sufficient independent self....I feel like that lady in the commercial : !Help!!!...I've fallen and I can't get up!!!....and on this note, I will now end this journal entry.
...WELL?...

Do you think anxiety is genetic or comes from your environment? What are your thoughts?

Many of you know Mr K told me to "shut your mouth" in March 2025 when we took a road trip to Alpena Michigan. Since that time, we have had lots of ups and downs but I have never intentionally hurt Mr K in anyway. And when we first started dating in 2024 he let me know, although he is an engineer by degree, he has an extremely low EQ. Overall, he is ok (not off the charts nice like other guys in...

And, of course I would say, "Well, I am right here baby". One day he finally said he missed the me that I use to be. I felt so bad. It broke my heart. He is my heart and didn't understand why Granny was to sick to be his best buddy anymore.
I think you should have put the pray request in. Maybe not sign it but put it in the plate, jar, whatever your church uses. I do pray that you feel better. I have to fight myself here lately to take my meds. The need for them usually wins out over my neglect to take care of myself. I will make a deal, keep me in your prayers and I will keep you in mine.
I totally understand about living with an addict. They are not 'there' in any sense that really matters. Maybe, for a few hours or days here and there when they've sobered up, but so much time is spent either effed up on something, recovering or craving, that the person you fell in love with really is gone. I hope that you both can find some help with that issue very soon, it really makes you nuts.
Also do understand the missing yourself. Thank God I'm just starting to see bits of the old me...well more than bits, I just hate to jinx anything lol...but that feeling sucks and its' scary because you never think you might 'lose' yourself, right? The only thing I can think of is go back and try some things that you used to like...hobbies or exercise or anything...you might find a bit of yourself...your old joy...lurking there :)
Wishing you peace

You make perfect sense to me. Depression effects us so profoundly, but it is not who we are. It tries to rob us of everything we once were, but ultimately you the same worthy person you were before depression. Depression can't rob you of your worth, but it will lie to you to make you think you have no worth.
