Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
We try to make out a menu for 2 weeks at a time, then I go out and buy things. Sometimes I am good and buy all the stuff at once, but other times I go out every day or two and get what I need for the next few days.
I think if your menu is realistic, and if you "force" yourself to eat what you plan, then that might solve several small problems all at once.
So I have begun cooking on Sunday afternoon as if I were going to feed six or eight people, then fill half pint canning jars with whatever I made and put them in the freezer. Right now I have rice casserole, meat loaf, creamed chicken, pinto beans, a soup I call sorta chili, chili dogs and I dont know what all in the freezer waiting for me to choose my next meal and I only have to wash cookware once a week.
PS I like the idea of cooking meals once a week that Sixtyplus suggests.
My medication is reducing my apetite, but that's a good thing cause I have a really huge appetite.
I know what you mean though about buying healthy food and then it just rots in the fridge. I do that too.
