i have not slept at night for at least 5 months. i sometimes can sleep during the day but whatever sleep i do get never feels like enough. it seems like im sleeping 16 hours plus a day but im really only getting 4 or 5 hours of disturbed sleep.
i have constant scarey nightmares and wake up sweating profusely. even with the air con on.(its hot here is australia).i think i wake up all the time and constantly feel like ive been hit by a truck. if i take sleeping aids they either dont work at all or i sleep all night and into the next afternoon which means of course no sleeping again that night.
it all start 5 months ago when i came off seroquel. i was having very severe anxiety which is mostly gone now. except for at night. i get really anxious at night, have maddening repetitive thoughts sometimes negative, sometimes funny! i just dont feel safe at night. if i do start to fall asleep i jump awake at the last second like you would do if you were on a train and you didnt want to drop off completely. when the sun comes up i calm down and can go to sleep. but then i cannot sleep again at night.
on the odd accassion where i have slept at night i wake up about 7am from a frightening night, are. i do not feel like i have slept at all because ive spent the whole night running. i spent last night in jail, escaping and drowning myself over and over. sometimes i am chased all night by the taliban while all of my friends disappear one by one as they are found and killed. i remember all my dreams in extreme detail. only then can i sleep as i do not tend to dream anywhere near as much in daylight.
has anyone else experienced this? any suggestions would be most welcome. i have been off work since last april and this is the LAST issue that needs to be resolved before i can start work again. in all other ways i have improved greatly.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...

print your post on paper and show it to a doctor. If he is hesitant to help you, show it to another doctor.
The only thing that works for me is zopiclone, but I hear it's not availible in the states... gives you a natural REM and knocks me out at least... am at the frustrating point where doctors will neither give me a high enough dosage or long enough because of a history of self harm... I normally sleep for about 6-7 hours with the medication and feel fine the next day, I know everyone is different and everyone must try their own medication...but I would recommend that!
It is so horrible and you have my total sympathies.
I am very stubborn and have refused to use sleep aids, I have just gotten used to it.
Best wishes.
