I had a job interview yesterday morning at a steakhouse and I got hired on the spot! To make things even better, the reason the general manager was looking is because they just lost 3 girls at the same time because they were all best friends and went off to Australia together.. so I basically get my pick of 3 peoples' worth of hours and shifts :D
I am so happy! I have been so stressed out this summer it's actually been making me sick because the only job I could get was pouring coffee at Tim Horton's. It was the one I had worked at earlier in the school year and when they took me back they dropped my wage from $12/hr to $10.50 and they wouldn't give me full time hours. I had to work until closing (11:30pm) five nights a week but they were rarely 8 hours shifts, so I was giving up all of my evenings to make barely enough to pay my bills and not nearly enough to pay my tuition this coming year. But now I've finally got a better job and I can't wait to start! It's waitressing so the pay is minimum wage, but tips are pretty good there. It's a pretty classy joint - the kind of place my parents would want to go out to on vacation - so I know I will do well on tips. And I can work as many hours as I want! So if I need extra money I can work 6 nights instead of 5 if I want, that kinda thing.
I just wanted to let you all know that things are starting to look up a little more for me. Hopefully this one less stressor will help me finally pull myself out of the funk i've been in for good.

In the past, lets say, 5 months.. I have sent out hundreds and hundreds of resumes. The majority of my time that I wasn't at work has been spent either online applying for jobs or walking around handing them out. I finally was at the point where I decided to give up on trying to find another job because it was just too much getting my hopes up just to have them dashed. The funny part - I was in the middle to telling my brother that I'm giving up on finding a better job when my phone rang and it was the manager asking for an interview! LoL
