He's going to the dr today. he has always been one that would not go to the dr. He is getting out of breath easy and has a dry hacking cough that won't go away. His mother died of lung cancer, but she was a smoker, and he is not. He's one of those people that will give anyone money if they need it, or mow their lawn if they can't do it themselves, he works on my roof if it leaks, what ever happens to my house or my mechanical things, he has always been the first person I called. We're all very worried, but I hope it's not the C word, I hope it's something that can get better, or something not that serious.

My prayers are sent your way. I can't stand the 'c' word either because it ruins people's life. I really ruined mine.
I pray that it will go great and it's not the 'C' word.

I wanted to add that today my mom have to go to the eye doctor. There had been numerous things that happen to cause my mom to go through depression. She is like your dad, she is a very kind hearted person. She'll give a person anything if they need it. I'm close to my mom too and when I hear that she is not doing well, it makes me sad too. When my mom was diagnosed with leukemia, I was sadden and thought about the fun things but still I was sad and very sensitive. Example I can watch shows like "little house on the prarie" and cry. But now I'm better (I have good and bad days. Who doesn't? :)

I try to encourage my mom the best I can and do what is necessary around the house. Things like chores around the house, anything to keep my mind busy.

I don't like jumping to the worse possible thing that could be wrong. But that's me. Years ago those were my Dad's symptoms plus swollen ankles that he said weren't swollen. When it became difficult enough for him to breathe he finally went to the ER. He was diagnosed with congestive heart failure which has been managed with medication.
Your Dad sounds wonderful & loving. Let's hope for something explainable & manageable so that you have many more healthy happy years with him. Although it may be time for him to stop going on roofs to do repairs. ;) Keep us posted as to what the dr says. Stay strong!
