Not sure there is any real answer to that, as all medications will / could have some side effects. As a general thought for me, I experienced both at some point. I've been on meds for a long time, and so many advances have been made. I would certainly say that your concerns are very valid and letting your doctor know if those signs show up, or develop is key. No, ... and no.

People have diferent sit effects to each meds usualy after a month ..to three months your body gets use to it and the reaction goes away ...some make you tired but that lasts only a short time ...and it is because you need that sleep ...if sidefect go one past one month and you don't like them than try a diferant med ...

I take Depakote, Wellbutrin and Prozac and I can only speak from my OWN experience -- your mileage may vary.

Before I took Prozac, I took Paxil, and yes, for a while both knocked out my sex drive. I bellieve that's past, but have to no partner with whom to verify that.

The Depakote gives me terrible tremors -- sometimes I have to eat with a spoon because my food falls off my fork, I feel like I have Parkinson's.

BUT

I'd rather deal with those issues than risk getting sucked back into the deep dark depression that awaits me without the meds.

I was on Lexapro for several years, improved my anxiety and didn't do either of what you asked.
Then I was on Lyrica, no and no.
Now I'm on Prozac, hasn't done much.
I think it really depends on yourself, I've never been on an anti depressant that made me drowsy and sleepy.

You see my experience was different. Celexa and Effexor made me sleepy at first and they killed my sex drive, no desire, no NOTHING in the regard. Lexipro did what Celexa and Effexor did but also made my depression worse AND I became extremely mean, argumentative and nasty. The only one that hasn't had any of these side effects is Cymbalta.

I am currently taking Paxil and Buspar and neither of them have had any adverse affects in regards to making me feel sleepy or decreased in sex drive but everybody reacts differently to certain medications. I would suggest asking your doctor in advance of any side affects of medications they are possibly going to put you on. Normally they start you out on a very low dose to see how it works and if you start having the sleepiness and decreased sex drive make sure you immediately notify your doctor.
