Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Very well could be. I would do some research .. like maybe:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium#Medicinal
but keep in mind, pharmacology is complex and it is easy for a LAYMAN to draw the wrong conclusions. I MORE STRONGLY recommend you confer with your doctor.
>> I know to go to the dr. but my appt isnt until next week.
See above.
>>Do I quit taking these bastards?
That should be only your decision .. based on research .. which I think should INCLUDE input from your doctor. I say 'hang on' until you can talk to yours .. if at all possible. Here is SOME info on lithium withdrawal:
http://www.steadyhealth.com/about/lithium_withdrawal_syndrome.html
which indicates to me stopping it on your own MIGHT be OK .. but I am no doctor.
>>Do I take a gun and put it to my head?
Not unless you want to die (or worse).
I don't know if this is something you can just stop taking, or if it needs to be stepped down gradually...but there's gotta be a better way. Shouldn't be changing your personality like that (with the crying) and definitely should not be causing suicidal thoughts.
I really hope you can get off this, or get it tweaked, as soon as possible.
Hugs
Until then.... hang in there.
keep dancin sister.
i still hate the stinky bear suit.
"What if I or someone I know is in crisis?
If you are thinking about harming yourself, or know someone who is, tell someone who can help immediately.
Call your doctor.
Call 911 or go to a hospital emergency room to get immediate help or ask a friend or family member to help you do these things.
Call the toll-free, 24-hour hotline of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (1-800-273-8255); TTY: 1-800-799-4TTY (4889) to talk to a trained counselor.
Make sure you or the suicidal person is not left alone."

In your case, I would give that lifeline number a call and ask them about abruptly stopping medication.
Quitting them without talking to the doc is really not a good idea. As bad as you are feeling, you still should talk to the doc first, but please, hon, do it ASAP!
I pray that you are feeling like your old dancing bear self soon sweet one. Please keep us posted.
No. NONONONONONO.
Seriously, PLEASE, if you feel this way, you have got to call the crisis line or get to the ER. You are a valuable, beautiful person, and I don't wanna lose you. Yes, I am selfish. I want you around.. You mean the world to me.
