Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I find that when I am VERY busy, .. I don't feel down, lost and lonely. By that, I mean VERY busy. I have TONS of things to accomplish, take care of, ensure. Must take GOOD care of my dog, hobbies, possessions, pursuit of goals, ... maintaining my home (soon to have TWO of them), being a DS CL, renovating a classic sports car, keeping up with the Presidential race, and on, and on,and on. Just no time to be 'down'.
Maybe that is our difference. I am diagnosed depressed and PTSD. I have lately fallen off taking medication ... which brings up an interesting point. I am very PRO medication. Maybe they are essential ... until one gets and STAYS adjusted. I don't know. If I am 'doing OK' ... without meds, .. PERHAPS I am 'cured'. I don't know.
But given that we are battling depression, sometimes I picture depression as a weak monster and I simply tell it that I AM IN CHARGE OF ME, and then I get defiant and just do something.
Other days I try to think of something to do that I can do, and then doing it is my victory. One example, some days I get up late, but instead of skipping the gym I go. Just getting there is my victory, so actually doing some cardio (treadmill) or weight machines is extra victory, and I do NOT have to do a full routine to feel like I did something.
Gentle hugs
You can care about you. You're about the only person you can rely on to care about you. Other people will dish out the jollies, come visit to cheer you up (if they're bored) and other fun stuff: but they don't do it for you. ultimately they do it for them.
You have to look after you. Absolutely nobody else will for any realistic period of time.
KEEP YOUR HEART ON AND PRAY 2 THE LORD IN HEAVEN.
IT WORKS 4 ME.
