Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Hello All, I'm new to the depression support group. But I feel moderately depressed today. I felt really depressed when i got up, but it's gotten better over time. I knit to pass the time sometimes. I don't feel like working, but my casemanager is supporting me in volunteer jobs--yuck! I feel down about that. I just want to lay in the sun and do nothing. I guess that's not very realistic. Sometimes I feel suicidal, severely suicidal but then it goes away. Can anyone relate to this? Suzi

when I had my breakdown in 2007 all I wanted to do was lay on the couch and watch tv...an impossible feat when you have 3 kids. have you seen a pdoc and tdoc? they can help you with getting meds to help and someone to talk to.

Hi Suzy, welcome to the depression board! I can relate to what you're feeling, and I'm sure most others here can as well. I haven't been suicidal for a long time but i know that feeling.

Suzi, you are not alone. I have been battling severe depression for 22 years and am only just now starting to get better not because of meds or therapy (although I do take med and have been in therapy in the past) but because of neurofeedback. It's really helping me. I dont' know off hand how much it costs for these treatments though as I get the treatments free through my brother who is starting a practice. I'm not perfect though and still struggle with housework and am not yet working. Yes I very much can relate to not wanting to do anything. And I have spent literally years of my life in bed and battling suicidal feelings, although I am now free of that thank God.
