Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

These are difficult and trying times that are especially cruel to those who can handle them the least. We live in a society horribly deficient in social support mechanisms. These factors can exacerbate mental health problems and make them unmanageable. We are too busy building zeitgeists out of idiots than to hold out a helping hand to those who need it the most.
I know that you are trying and holding out for better days. Realize that your situation is not your fault. You are not well and the world is not well. Just like the quote I usually like to use in my status message, "It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society."
I have been suicidal in the past, a fact I had to admit at the psychiatrist's office today. I understand it and I get it. I have hiked mountains and ran marathons. When the going gets tough, I just keep on going. It's what I do. I push through despite of everything and in spite of everything. I figure that if society is against me, I'll keep on going to spite it - to be a thorn in its side.
Sometimes, you have to think of things like that to keep on going. Sometimes, all you need is a good night's sleep. You are in charge of your thoughts. Tomorrow, go out and choose to do something you want to do and give no thoughts, pretexts, or pretenses to it. Just think that I'm doing this because its what I want to do and whatever happens happens. Assign no emotional connotations to it. Choose to go out there and live life on your terms in spite of society and in spite of any baggage you may have.
idk what it is but i'm feeling really down and gloomy also....its just a dead feeling...like im just existing. sometimes Im ok, really and then sometimes I just kinda lose it and don't want to go on in this life. I know my life is hell as I see it. noone can really tell me any different at 50yrs old, sometimes I just want to quit trying. ya know? Just quit.
i agree, it's so hard when things just don't ever turn around. don't leave tho. it's not time yet perhaps. i'm not a trained suicide hotline person, so i don't want to say the wrong thing, but i do know how you feel heretic, i really do.
If nothing else we're here for you. I'm not sure how to say this to you, I'm not a suicide prevention hotline person, all I can say is there are people who would miss you and care about you. You've come here to talk about what is going on in you head and heart. Please don't do anything to take you away from us.
please write and let us know you are still among the living
What people don't understand is that I've had no reason to live for years now. Over the years my life has gotten worse and worse. I was going to kill myself last year because I was worried that I would have to face another hellish year - turns out the following year was worse than I could have ever imagined.
I don't want to take the chance of facing more hell in the upcoming year. I want this life OVER. It sucks in every way possible. And it's only gonna get worse. As of Feb I am cut off of food stamps and can't get to the food bank because I don't have the bus faire nor the time off of work to do so. So I will be starving.
So rather than die of starvation why not die a peaceful death? We all have to die sometime - who's to say we are supposed to suffer as long as our physical bodies hold out? How about when you mentally give out? Live in a mental hospital till the body gives out? Ridiculous. No point to that at all.
I won't be able to work much longer because of my mental health deteriorating, right now I can only do 3-4 hours a day which the entire check goes to my rent each week. And I soon won't be able to do even that. So I'm facing living on the street. And in this town I most definitely would be better off dead than living homeless.
If I check into a hospital the managers at the motel I live in will throw all my stuff in the dumpster and I'll be homeless with only the clothes on my back when I get out of the hospital. I'll have no where to go, no food and no money because I missed work do to being in the hospital. Will the hospital pay my rent? It's ridiculous. If I was homeless I'd be at the hospital ALL THE TIME - I'd have no where else to be and I bet they'd ban me because the really can't do a damn thing to fix any of my problems.
I need help. I need someone living with me sharing the load. I've needed that for years now. But I have to face reality. It's not going to happen. I guess when I run out of food and have to choose between starvation (a slow painful death) and a quick, painless death - what would be the sane choice?
I need a person in real life helping me. But it's not gonna happen so fuck it. I'm outta here

I survived but I have lost everything. My belongings, my job which wasn't great, my apartment...everything. I had to make a decision in the hospital...either go back to the life i knew where i wanted to die everyday or change my life so the things that got to me couldn't anymore.
That's what you have to do. Something has to change in order to change how your feeling.
Please feel free to write if you need to talk. I promise to understand what you are saying and feeling.
