Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
No it is not bad, sad yes, bad no. I felt that way for 8 years. I prayed for death to take me because I had seen first hand the emotional devastation left behind by a dear friend's suicide. I wanted to die in an accident or catch some fatal illness because I knew I couldn't put the ones I loved through the pain and guilt of a suicide.
You need to talk to your doc and tell him the prescription or therapy is not working. There are so many options out there, he needs to find one that works for *you.* Don't let him stop looking, don't let him maintain the status quo because it's not where you need and deserve to be.
There *is* hope! You *will* see a brighter future. As impossible as that sounds, and I know because I too had totally given up hope, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and it is so worth seeing! I'm so grateful I did not die when I was in that darkness, I am now able to feel joy once more. Joy! Something I thought was forever gone from my life. It is there waiting for you too.
Peace and strength!
seriously you need to find the right meds. I was on a couple. seemed like nothing every really worked. got on one and Bing. I wasn't sunshine and roses, but I didn't think about wanting to die all the time. I could find moments of enjoyment and through that work my way out of the deepest depression.
The depression does lie to you. It tells you there is point to life, that the next minute, the next hour, the next day, weeks, months . . .will all continue on in abject misery with no hope, no enjoyment, but its a lie!
So don't give up.
