Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
1. You start making better choices about what you do and who you listen to, and
2. People start treating you with more respect and they tak eyou more seriously - especially people who don't know the "old" you.
Once you have people in your life who treat you like the person you really want to be, then you can begin to decide who to continue connecting with and who to phase out of your life.
Hope this helps.
I am sorry you are up against so many difficulties. I guess you have heard it .. but you are not worthless. You hold all the value anyone else does. We are not necessarily valued by our possessions and circumstances.
I would really like you to research 'self esteem' .. and learn what it is and how to realize it. There are tons of books and articles on it. Self esteem is essential for a good life. It is something learnable .. you can learn to have it. The Internet has many, many resources on the subject.
You mention 'critically ill' .. and I am sorry to hear that. If you live in the USA, perhaps you could be considered disabled and somehow get some kind of income .. from Social Security Disability benefits. Maybe you could discuss this with your doctor.
There are TWO KINDS of Social Security Disability .. SSDI and SSI. Here .. the two are described:
Social Security is responsible for two major programs that provide benefits based on disability: Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), which is based on prior work under Social Security, and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Under SSI, payments are made on the basis of financial need.
Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) is financed with Social Security taxes paid by workers, employers, and self-employed persons. To be eligible for a Social Security benefit, the worker must earn sufficient credits based on taxable work to be "insured" for Social Security purposes. Disability benefits are payable to blind or disabled workers, widow(er)s, or adults disabled since childhood, who are otherwise eligible. The amount of the monthly disability benefit is based on the Social Security earnings record of the insured worker.
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a program financed through general revenues. SSI disability benefits are payable to adults or children who are disabled or blind, have limited income and resources, meet the living arrangement requirements, and are otherwise eligible. The monthly payment varies up to the maximum federal benefit rate, which may be supplemented by the State or decreased by countable income and resources.
I think you would qualify for SSI. If you do, you would get $674 a month. I am not sure what all the qualifications are .. but here is a link where you can find more info .. as well as file online:
http://www.socialsecurity.gov/pgm/ssi.htm
I hope this works out for you. It may be complicated or 'difficult' to get .. but you can start learning about it .. and perhaps your life can change if you can pull it off.
I am not an expert on it .. but I will TRY to help you if you need it .. to the extent that I can.
So .. check out 'self esteem' ... and look into making a Social Security SSI claim.
1) You have plenty of company on this; lots of people are looking for work.
2) Ditto
3) I'm sure you have relationships with people, but they may not be the type you want.
4) I am so very sorry you have health issues. How is your treatment going?
5) Is there a chance your mom can help you build a better relationship with your step dad?
6) I"m old enough to be your dad, no way I'd ever see you as ugly. Your weight may bother you, and perhaps it is a health issue; but it does not matter to me.
7) I can understand your feelings there, have you been able to talk to your mom about this?
8) I've known some very engaging people who have neither a license nor a car.
9) From the way you have expressed yourself, I seriously doubt this.
