Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I WISH I COULD STOP SMOKING, YA KNOW I QUIT DRUGS(HEROIN-VERY HARD TO KICK) BUT WITH FAMILY MEMBERS WHO HAVE DIED OF CANCER AND NOW MY AUNT AND UNCLE WHO HAVE LUNG CANCER, YOU'D THINK THAT I COULD STOP..NOPE, ITS SO VERY HARD
THAT IS GREAT AND THAT IS DEFINATELY SOMETHING TO BE VERY PROUD OF!!
WELL DONE!!!!!!
Yeah I pretty much know what to expect.. because I have quit before - made it a year and a half once. That's what's gotten me through the really rough periods this first month, because I know full well that the first few weeks are the hardest, the first few months.. and then after that it tends to get better for a while before allasudden BAM you're hit with a godawful craving a year or so down the road.
It was the fact that I'm poor as hell and I simply can't justify spending $10 a day on killing myself slowly
It was the fact that I missed playing soccer which I hadn't done much of since high school because I can't run ten feet without becoming short of breath
It was the fact that cigarettes controlled my life - I wouldn't go places that I couldn't smoke, etc
It was the fact that I have a chronic cough that never goes away
It was the fact that whenever I get a cold it lasts forever and it seems like I'm sick more than I'm well
It was the fact that I've started to think a lot more about cancer lately because I found a lump in my breast (convinced though that it's not cancerous - doesn't feel like it is.. getting it checked soon tho)
Lots of things.. but none of it has to do with some f*cking government telling me what to do with MY body! LoL
this last year i smoked more than i'd like to, although i never bought a pack, knowing that if i did i would smoke them.
at some point early this year they just started tasting like shit to me, so i haven't smoked any in ages . i like that. i abhorred the smell of them on my hands or hair or mouth.
CONGRATS to you.
Mine is 15 years without a smoke. You can do it too. I know it.
It can be done, meanie. My grandmother was the HEAVIEST smoker I know. She quit after 40 yrs. Just went cold turkey
