Depression - Teen Support Group
Teen depression is marked by persistent sadness, discouragement, loss of self-worth, and loss of interest in usual activities. Depression can be a temporary response to many situations and stresses. Teens may be more susceptible to depression due to the normal maturation process, the stress associated with it, and conflicts with parents as they become more independent.
I can definantly relate with this post. I've dealt with depression/ anxiety for years and been on all kinds of medications, was self harming quite a bit and it was just a mess. From my personal experiences I can tell you that you are not ungrateful. I feel that way all the time too I mean I have an amazing family, a warm home, a life, but that doesn't mean you can't be depressed or sad. You aren't making yourself have these issues your mind is just messing around and being stubborn. You didn't ask for this. Depression is a lot more severe and dangerous than people give it credit for. The more you push it away the worse it will feel when it hits you again. Let it ride through you, recognize when your mind just sucks sometimes, and know you are allowed to be sad. Just because you are blessed doesn't mean you aren't aloud to feel and deal with something that was thrown on you. Talk to a therapist about this I think it would help. You should never feel guilty about this because it's hell and everyone on here knows that. You can be grateful and sad it's okay I promise. The mood fluctuations are a terrible thing. I saw a psychiatrist and was put on some medication for the same mood problems and it really gave me some relief, just something to think about. Self harming stuff can be addictive and people don't get that. It's insanely hard to break free from. It's a process and you have to make the decision on your own if you really want to stop or not. Learn coping skills they really work and are a lot safer. Love yourself and try to find a different outlet for your pain. Start trying to do it less and less if you can. Relapses are okay. You are strong, you are good enough and you will make it through this shitty time. Let yourself go through this and take care of yourself. Be more understanding because you deserve it. You are important. Never lose yourself and be safe. Much love:)
