My boyfriend of 6 months has suddenly fallen into a depressive state. He is on medication and seeing a psychologist weekly.
He lives alone but has friends and family nearby. I live interstate but we manage to see each other about half of each month.
I am at a loss as to how to help him. I have offered advice, been a shoulder to cry on, help him set up some little structure in his life, encouraged him etc etc.
I phone him numerous times per day.
He still lies in bed most of the day and says he lacks motivation to move. I am a positive and energetic person myself and find that difficult to deal with, but i accept it is part of the illness. I am trying hard, but it is getting me down too now. Each time i call him he is negative and has done nothing in a whole day.
Is there something i am not doing, or that i can do that may help him? We had a great thing going, but as it is, i see him becoming an invalid, and incredibly dependent on me - unhealthily so.
I am of the thought that he has to just keep on trying and to try and achieve little things in each day, for if he just lets himself lie in bed, then he is indulging his mindset.
Ideas appreciated.

Depression is very cripling my friend, it hurts people we love not to mention ourselves. You have to be patient, unfortunatly he has lost his way and only he can find it again, you said your there, thats good and you try to encourage him, thats good too. Talk to him honestly and tell him that as much as you love him, it's difficult for you to understand. Your not being mean if you cant cope, but please be very patient. Search the web for useful websites that tell you about this disease, you will have a bit more info then. I wish I could send a magic cure for him, but he's got a battle to fight, andonly he can do it. Sorry. Keep him talking via his therapist and his medication will take a while to kick in, it will. If you want to talk to me then please do, been there and still am a little. Good luck my friend, dont be hard on yourself, it just needs time.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
