Ok - so we are at the end of week 2 with no drinking. Cold turkey has lasted. Think it will last a while which is YAY for me. Our son was on a school trip for 4 days this week. I had taken time off work becuase I planned to spend time with the hubs - just us so I could give him all the attention he says I never give him since he thinks work is so much more improtant than him. It did not exactly work that way. I did take it off, I worked in secret becuase it is the busiest time of the year for me. He went to bed and I would get on the PC and work remote from like midnight to 5 am each day and then go to bed and get up at 8 with him. 4 days off and I could not wait to go back to work so I could get some sleep at night for a chnage.
Anyway the 4 days worked. We did not go anywhere like I originally wanted to wen I planned it like 2 months ago, but it was week 2 of no drinking and me being home helped a lot. we watched tons of movies, ate good food, he had a massage with his chiropractic appointment, and we talked a lot about all kinds of things (nothing serious just like we used to). On Wednesday nite, before our son got home, he said to me that he is not as edgy and he hasn;t thought about needing a beer like he did the first week. He seems more even keeled and less suicidal this week. I only went to work Thursday and Friday though and it was the weekend again. he always does MUCH better when I am home or he is not alone.
Our son is now home for the summer, which shoudl help. He likes it when our son is home and while they drive each other bonkers sometimes, overall they do well together. They have a plan to watch 80's action films together all summer - one a day. Plus, we have tickets to a ball game Thrsday that I got from work and they are AWESOME seats, My boss gave me the day off to go since I worked on my vacation. Then we have fireworks on the lake to do Saturday at his sister;s house. That will be a challenge - they have a huge tiki hut on the lake with a full bar and 3 taps. Its a giant party with like 50 people every year so it will be hard. BUT good or bad I guess, my Father in Law is an alchoholic and my Mother in law is fed up, so he has confided this in my hubs and they are chatting about not drinking and maybe they will buddy up about it at the party. I know my hubs can stay strong - maybe he will be good since he feels he is giving someone else some help in quitting too.
It looks good right now...I am enjoying it while I can. Hopefully it will last for a bit. Summer is usually much better to deal with than winter for him. This may even last long enough for me to convince him to travel with me the forst week of August when I have to go up north for a week for work...one can hope.
Now if I could just get him to get a therapist again since his last one left practicing 3 months ago...at least the psychiatrist is seeing him still every 3-4 weeks and the meds seem to be working a little better with no alcohol...even he has noticed that...

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
In the meantime the no drinking is wonderful!!! Self medicating has stopped and he is on his way to a healthier life!!! How's it going? How's he doing? How're YOU doing? I hope all is well :)
