I'm hoping someone can offer me some help. I have been with my husband for 8 years (married 5 of those years). When I met him he was depressed and pretty much a shell of a man.
I thought his depression was caused by a divorce that he had recently gone through. Afterwards, I found out that he had suffered from a bad bout of depression in his teens. His mother, father, brother and grandfather all suffer from depression. His brother is the only one who got treatment for it.
For the last 7 years he had bouts of depression that lasted for very short periods of time. I was always there for him and with my help we got through times together. Our marriage was in general was awesome. We never fought or disrespected each other.
This last year has been hell! He is withdrawn, angry, irritable and very short tempered. I have lost my husband, lover and best friend all at once. The passion in our relationship has much dissapeared. We went 3 months without being intimate and now I feel like we are just having sex. I miss those passionate lovemaking sessions we once shared.
I feel very lonely and abandoned. He can go for days ignoring me or at the best say a few words to me here and there. His escape seems to be playing XBOX. He will play for hours at a time.
I have tried everything to try to get him help and he tells me that he is not depressed. I have even gone to seek mental health help to see how I can help him further.
I so badly want that wonderful loving and caring man that I married but it seems impossible at this point.
Sorry this is so long but can anyone offer me any advice? Thank you so much.

I read your post and other's and feel so much empathy and see so many similarities. I wish I had an answer but It seems to me you are trying so hard and that's good. Unfortunately there seems to be little in the way of responses on this forum. I would never tell you not to post here. I still do but I've found a more active one in mental health forum. Nothing quite as specific but at least I get responses and advice. I hope you come to know that, although some may not feel the strength to respond, just the fact that you post and reach out leads to thoughts of support from many people you don't know and at times you are not even aware of it. Good luck.

One note about the other site, it's British. I do not find it to be a problem except in areas of "the system". Their medical system. The human need, response to suffering and willingness to help one another crosses so many boundries.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
