Depression Supporters Support Group
This community is dedicated to spouses, children, relatives, co-workers and others who are actively supporting someone suffering from depression or other serious mental illness. Depression can bring about intense sadness, melancholia or despair that has advanced to the point of being disruptive, which can have a grave impact on the ability of others trying to help.
I've found that better goal planning has helped. 3500 calories is one pound of fat. So to lose one pound a week, you have to cut out 500 calories a day through diet/exercise over what your body needs each day. (www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm) At 210, without exercising, your body needs about 2000 calories a day to maintain that weight. If you were to create a 700 calorie deficit daily by doing 30 minutes of cardio and eating 1600-1700 calories a day, you would see about 3lbs lost each week.
When you have a plan, you can measure your progress daily, even if the scale doesn't show it, and it helps me to stay motivated. Another trick I use is volumetrics. You can literally stuff yourself on 400-500 calories if you prepare it right.
Good luck...and if you want some easy, large portion, low cal meals, let me know, I can send some....
