Have you talked to your local Alzheimer's Association? They can help with providing a lot of good local resources. Most communities also have some type of elder care agency that can provide insight and assistance.

I have found many good resources online in getting help in evaluating NH's, researching care options and looking into NH's and requirements for care. Most states have different laws relating to long term care facilities, but there are lot's of ways to search on this also. A good social worker or care manager can be a great resource too. Does your Dad have a good Doctor that you trust? Possibly they could point you to their hospital social worker for assistance or guidance?

Hi Facing, Don't forget the list of resources I put on the Board a little over a month ago. A lot of it was respite but there was other stuff too. I forget how I found it but there is a website that the State has that lists the evaluations for each facility. It shows cleanliness, food, dignity, quality of life, etc. Rates all of the places on all of those issues. I found the website through my local Hospice social worker. I went to look at 10 of them before we let Daddy be placed in the one I found. There is not too much to choose from with Medicaid, I know. It's hard and a lot of it is learning as you go and by trial and error but you are doing the very best you can and we're here to help too if we can.
