Is there anything can be done other than fusion? What about disc replacement? Thx Brenda

My PM doc. said, I could have surgery or meds. He did not elaborate on what the surgery would be. Since he deals with meds, he said surgery would be awful.

I tried some meds. and didn't do well with the side effects.

It depends on the extent of degeneration. I did not want the surgery, but my disks were completely gone and it was bone on bone. Even though I still suffer, and can't feel my hands at least I can move them and my arms. My surgery was 10 years ago, they do have new advances. I saw a gel like substance that they replace the disk with. That was years ago and in California. The Mayo Clinic may have that now. I would do plenty of research, and get many opinions. That was my C5, C6 & C7. Now I have a protruding disk at T3 &T4, and my L5 Disk keeps slipping. I do alot of research. I am waiting for better treatments. Also I was only 38 when I had my first surgery.

I looked up alternatives as i also have been recommended for that kind of surgery.I beleive there are surgeries to remove just the part thats pressing against the cord and I thought i readf about artififical discs.I checked out Spine Universe or Institute and the Back Institute.
I am going to researh and hopefully find something better.I havent read good things about surgery and it scares me, as I am soon to be divorced and need to be as well as i can be to look out for me, for a change.Been done pretty dirty by my husband and dont want to suffer any more losses, you know what I mean...
