Doc says no for surgery

I had a bout w a lumbago attack that drove me to the er. my entire body was in horrible pain. when i go to the er they loaded me up w a muscle relaxer and 3 shots of dilaudid, wth no success. they rushed me out of the er while i was still in dehabilitating pain saying they couldnt do any more since it was a chronic conditon. the gave some prescripts and advised me to see my pcp and basically evicted me out of the rm. anyway i went to another back spec and he said i have congenital spinal stenosis and fibromyalgia and said surgery would not do any good since i would still be in pain and maybe even more so cuz of the fibro. he said i was being undertreated all this time and that i should be put on morphine and advised me to see my pcp for proper treatment. he also said that what i had that me to the er was a lumbago attack that can be easily triggered by not so much as a sneeze (so now i do less than nothing, if thats possible:}) anyway i finally got in to see my pcp and he said he didnt want me on morphine and suggested cymbalta.

oops i didnt mean to end it there, sorry. the doc also put me on balacet and kept me on flexeril but said to hold off on cymbalta till after the nerve testing on my legs. i am confused as to what will hpn after the testing. if there is nerve damage, am i a candidate for surgery after all or what//>? my brain has bn operating on sloooow moooooow these days..any reply is appreciated .

You really need to get an appointment with a Pain Management Specialist Doctor. Your pcp obviously does not want to prescribe opioid pain medication and there's no sense in suffering because of that.

The brain fog is certainly because of the fibro, it's related to stress, the more you have, the less sense you make LOL.. Kinda kidding there, but it sure seems that way to me. I used to have large words in my vocabulary, but I can't recall them when I need them. I've learned to live with it for the most part.

Surgery is something you want to think hard on and not jump right into without seeing a couple more surgeons for their opinion.

thx for the quick reply. i barely got a bed a minute ago. my inlaws were in town and i feel bad i couldnt see them off. my hubs tried to get me up but i was exhausted and hurting on my left side. i am thinking of calling them to apologize but i know i dont want to start blubbering all over the phone... uggg,, its one of those days again... anyway thx again 4 the quick response.. this balacet does nothing,, gna take flexeril and hopefully that'll help a bit.:/

I can tell you that the Cymbalta is for depression, but it has a LITTLE pain properties in it ~ very little. It never helped MY pain and i have sciatica too (lumbago). It does NOTHING for it. I've had sciatica for 24 years and it's awful. You do need an opiate for this. Try to get into pain management. Surgery will NOT work for this. Believe me, I've had 2 open surgeries, and I'm worse off now than before. God bless and best of luck. Peace, Lee

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
