Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Support Group
Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.
Retire, thanks for the MTHFR info.
Amerimex, I agree on not being happy withe the "few days" comment by my Vascualr doc. Even though he knew I had recently had 4 dopplers and 4 CT scans in the previous three weeks, and may of worried my symptoms were only die to my being more active. Either way, I went to ER to be safe, and found my warfarin was inconsistent. So the good part (hopefully) is I got the chance to get on Xarelto.
Ahurley, so far so good on Xarelto. No weight gain. I lost 20 lbs over my two hospital stays (12 days in one month), and have gained 4 back in the last 10 days. I get pain in my arm joints and behind my knees though. Right now my heartburn has gotten so bad, they are sending me for an endoscopy to make sure I am not in danger of an ulcer. My hematologist suggested it. It is by far the worst side effect of this whole entire experience. He also is having me get some blood work to try and gauge whether my 30mg dosage should be continued past three weeks. I love Xarelto, but not knowing the therapeutic levels is annoying.
So I get another leg scan next Friday, and hoping for some sign of improvement. I really don;t want to hear "looks the same" again. Although I do know a full occlusion form groin to ankle (right leg) will take a while. My hematologist thinks one year to heal. I just worry about the PEs still. I have dull pains now behind my left knee, and I have been coughing flem for a week now. These types of things drive me nuts wondering if they are serious. I barely had any pain when they found my clot and PE. I want this ordeal to be over with so badly. I just try to take a deep breath and trust the blood thinners as TossnTurn put it.
Anyone have stockings help "Canalize" their clot? It seems all of the discusison are about PTS.
I figure that if it is pushing my blood through the veins quicker, thrn it is trying to promote it to push through and get things rolling, but what do I know. Have you thought about the procedure to take the clots out?
