Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.
Warfarin puts the body in a state of suspended animation. Everyone on it slows down and you feel the brain slowing down. Word retrieval, voice projection, the drive to engage, nerve conduction, everything slows down like a car in neutral gear. Where does this lead? This life on warfarin? Does anyone know? For us lifers? Are we the lucky ones because we are slowing down our aging maybe?!? How strange this warfarin journey. Could there be explorers up ahead that might give us clues about the road ahead. It's so scarey, so unknown as to our fate... Will we make it in one piece?

I'm going to come out and just ask this: Are you suffering from depression at the moment? Because your posts always have either a frantic bent or a melancholy, bleak tone that seem to go beyond healthy or normal concern and worry.
There aren't too many people on this site who are THIS wrecked over taking warfarin. It leads me to believe something else is going on with you. Are you exploring that as a possibility?
Yes, Coumadin does have some side affects but then again so does a lot of supplements available over the counter. Being a "lifer" I can't honestly say I have that much problems while on Coumadin. Yes when I had a target INR of 2.0-3.0 I was a little more fatigued. But then again, my body was recovering from a two DVT's and PE. Since being on low-intensity Coumadin (Target INR of 1.5-2.0) the only problem I have faced is do I go in for my monthly INR on Tuesday or Thursday at the end of the month.
It's been seventeen years since my first PE/DVT and 14 years since my last DVT and a lot has changed since then. "What a strange long trip it has been"
