Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Support Group
Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.
There's an interesting article about supplements, their regulation, and their safety in this month's issue of "Consumer Reports." It's worth reading, especially if you're considering treating a potentially dangerous thing like a clot with a supplement.
Me personally, I consider it foolhardy to consider supplements. I suppose they're more "natural," but they can also be dangerous if they don't do what you want them to do (e.g., dissolve the clot) or if they aren't what you think they are (very common) or if they interact with other things that you're taking. Also, I've clotted three times and I would never, ever risk another clot if I could help it. Supplements don't have any guarantee and I wouldn't want to play with my mortality.
Still, you absolutely have to do what you're comfortable with ... I get that too. I hope you figure out what you want to do and are on the path to recovery soon!
