It depends on what the stent is made of. If your doc doesn't know, maybe contact the radiology department of where you are having the MRI to help interpret the i structions. Your doctor or someone in his office should be able to tell you who to contact, if it'stays not clear.

I don't know much about regular stents, but did you get an implant card? I did with my IVC filter, and it says specifically that I may have an MRI. I'd imagine that if you have an implant card it would say yes or no to an MRI.

Also, if you know specifically what stent you have, maybe the manufacturer website would have information.

I didn't even know they had put in a stent until a week later when I was being discharged and asked what the Plavix was forso, no, don't know what it's made of, what type it is and certainly don't have an implant card.
The instructions say it depends on the type of stent and since I don't know the type we're at an impasse. And no one seems to know who to contact to find out. I thought maybe there was a particular type used in DVT procedures but it seems not. No MRI then I guess.

Ask for all your medical records from your stay when they put the stent in. The information should be in there and the records should be available to you on request.

And quite honestly your doc sounds like a tool because he actually should be able to look at your records to figure that out or contact the facility/provider to get the information.
