Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Support Group
Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.

After all my genetic blood tests came back negative my haem Dr said to come off my coumadin (it's been 6 months)...and they are attributing my brain DVT to pregnancy. However, I'm terrified to be off it! At least while I'm on it the chances of another clot are less....I'm afraid I'll be a basket case with every twinge. I feel like I'm damned if I do, damned if I don't! She said to just "stop" taking it. I thought I'd have to wean myself off...but I guess that's not how it works?
I don't know what advice I'm exactly looking for - but I guess I'm just mainly venting...and need to put out there how scared I am.
I will go back in three weeks for another Protein C,S and dimer...and factor 8 (as my level was 185 - a bit higher than norm)....but I guess I should be happy to have the chance to come off!?

I totally understand your anxiety!!! I feel the same way and I still have a couple months before my 6 month mark when I am supposed to go off it.

Hi Kiki - I've been off warfarin since the first week in October. My labs came back negative also. While waiting for my labs I played the game of "what if." I was completely caught off guard when the dr called to say everything is negative. I was pretty set on the warfarin for life mode, since my prior labs came back positive. No one understood why I wasn't more elated with my negative labs, and it's very hard to explain the fear of getting another clot. It even worries me that there may be something else wrong with me, since I had no precursors to get the clot to begin with. My leg is still achey, twitchy and bothersome. And I wake up every morning and make sure I have no pain in flexing my feet since that was the first sign of my DVT before. I'm sure in time we will feel better being off the meds, but I know exactly how you feel... nervous and uneasy. I've been going to the gym a little more now, if anything I have more energy and my bones don't ache like they did on warfarin. But I still can't believe that they swear fatigue is not a side effect. I wish you well with your labs down the road. Lynne

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
