Hi all,
Its me again, just a quick question about my foot, which is on the side with the dvt. My blood clot goes from femoral vein to iliac vein on my left side, and my left foot gets very purple (particularly the toes) and is usually an ice block. I have seen from others on the website that this can be quite common, as the blood pools in the foot after standing, etc. I still can't wiggle my toes in that foot or put full pressure on it (its getting stronger but I'm still using a crutch). My question is about small raised red spots on this foot, the skin is quite hard and the spots are raised and feel hard also. I will ask my haematologist about this on Tuesday, but just wondering if anyone else has the same problem or can shed some light on it?

I have had my DVTs for 3 months in my lower leg. My foot was a normal colour when elevated and turned purple when I put it to the ground from when I first sprained my ankle until maybe about a month ago.I had red spots on top of my foot where it meets my ankle. I didn't noticed that they were raised, but I didn't really examine them either. They became more prominent in the shower or bath. They disappeared gradually. Now my foot doesn't turn purple, but pink. This has also gradually faded and it is slowly getting back to a more normal colour. The red spots are gone. When I had both a sprained ankle and DVT I could wriggle my toes a bit but not curl them , it felt very stiff. I couldn't flex or point my toes either. It also got better and worse. I had fluid in my ligaments. I thought my ankle wasn't getting better as I have been limping so long. It has only been in the past two weeks that I have been able achieve a lot more movement in my foot. This corresponds to my calf feeling a lot better too. The doctors told me to start walking more as this is the way to cure a sprained ankle. However, it never helped. I now attribute most of the latter problems with my ankle due to swelling caused by the DVT. I also had some swelling in my knee and knew it was due to the DVT as I had no previous injury there.

Thanks for your reply Bickie, its good to hear that you're starting to feel some relief from those symptoms, I guess it just takes a while for them to go away.
The spots on my foot are on the sole of the foot and more like small bumps.
(I also get red/purple dots that are more like a skin discolouration due to changes in temperature, but the small red bumps on my foot are hard and raised and don't go away).

I've looked it up and it seems to be consistent with petechia

which can be caused by warfarin.

Has anyone else had this? If so, what did you do about it? If it is a side effect of warfarin will it just go away on its own or should I be concerned?
