Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Support Group
Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.
Theirs are so stinking cute, so I don't feel as conspicuous when I wear it. Mine says "Coumadin therapy" on the front and "Thrombophilia" on the back. I only wear it on car trips, though. The rest of the time, I'm here in town and just making short trips. I know that's not a good excuse, but I have an office job. I can't stand to type with a bracelet on. It just feels weird to me.
I think Coumadin sounds prettier too. Warfarin makes me think of the word "barf," for some reason. ;-)
Denis, such a computer nerd. :)

The best part of the whole experience was taking it off once I came off the warfarin. It now sits on my desk at home and reminds me of the wonderful day when I reached 6 months of recovery.
If I ever end up on warfarin for life, I'm definitely going to find something stylish so I can have some fun with it.
I thought I would need to wear one only when traveling but after reading some of your comment, I realized that I should be wearing it every time I leave the house. My husband was hit by a bike and ended up in the hospital two weeks later because the pain was so great. I live in a busy city and I am constantly dodging bikes because people ride them on the sidewalk!
Come to think about it the last one might have already been on it when I bought it. :^/
My daughter is positive Factor V also, and even though she hasn't had an episode of clotting yet, she wears a bracelet also. It is a nice thing to have for a "just in case".
Medic alert has some really cute styles, my latest has two clasps so I can interchange bands easily. I find they last a little longer than the over the counter ones also. Mine has Swaravski beads on it, so I feel "dressed up" with it on!!
After my 3 month checkup with the vascular surgeon I was expecting him to say that everything was OK and that I could stop taking Warfarin. Wrong! He wants me on Warfarin for another 6-9 months. Since this is my 2nd DVT, I could become a lifer. I feel better now having this bracelet. Somehow it makes this all the more real. Part of me had been in denial.
