How did lawyers get your number?

I have a non retrievable filter for 8 years and I've had no problems but I know there are some incidents with some kinds of filters breaking.

Are you currently having leg pain and shortness of breath and just recently went to the doctor? Do you have redness or swelling in your leg? I mean technically, the filter should protect you from any new clots traveling to your lungs but they can do a simple d dimer test to at least rule out a blood clot.

Also, sometimes they can't remove the filter after a certain point even if you wanted to have it removed.

I think you have to keep in mind that lawyers drum up a lot of hysteria with stuff like this. In the end, it's a money maker for them. So keep that in perspective. If it is truly a concern for you having this filter, then I'd get a second opinion from a doctor. I know you don't have insurance right now but talking to another doctor may help you.

Apparently someone sold off a list of names from a medic alert bracelet supplier I purchased from. Which is an entirely different issue thats already being delt with. I have a Denali that supposedly can be retrieved or left. The shortness of breath and leg pain have been constant since the DVT's and PE. I got a glimpse of the scan of my lungs and my right one looked like someone hit it with buck shot it was 90% blocked and barely functioning. D Dimmer has been done and rules out clots. the cause of my cloting episode is known so the danger is past as long as I dont take anymore

Oh, that would piss me off to no end that my name was sold to an attorney by a company. That's who should be sued.

So is your main concern right now really just having the filter and not knowing what to do about it? If so, that's where I'd get a second opinion, to see if they feel that your filter and your placement of the filter, etc are cause for concern, if it can be removed at this point, and if not, what is the exact risk. I think when it comes to filters you have to look at it like a risk / benefit thing. Does the risk of having it outweigh the risk of not having it. This is something a doctor should be able to help you sort out. Get the pros, cons and then go from there.

Called and spoke with both the surgeon who implanted it and my doctor rather then his assistant. Both of them say the filter is not one of the ones that caused trouble. But that the lawyers are simply adding names to the list to get more people to call on TV and calling people to try and get a class action suit against Bard. Its still got me worried alittle but I am better now. Blood work again showed D dimmer to be just above the normal range but not enough to warrant going back to warfarin. Asprin twice a day for a month then another test is where I am at. Shortness of breath is because lung function is reduced theres medication for it but I'm choosing to wait on that. The who info selling thing is a pain in the boohind. Pissed me off to no end at first. A call into customer service there got me a ton of apologies and all sorts of assurances it wont happen again, someones been fired. Not that it helps for the time being.

Regarding the lawyers calling you - seems like that would be a HIPPA violation to me. I would be pissed at all the vultures involved in releasing and using your personal health info for their benefit.

Have you undergone any examination (e.g. ultrasound and/or venogram) of the area where the filter was placed? if not, then I would think that would be a good idea. The problem with filters is that they sometimes cause formation of clots, so in my view, it is important to rule out that possibility. I

My IVC Filter could not be removed during the know removal window as there were complications so my filter became permanent. My Hemo was afraid my second clotting episode might have been brought on due to my body reacting to the filter therefore I was given a life sentence on Warfarin. Fortunately the filter I was given does not seem to have any history of being prone to failures. 5 years in now so I am sure it's well secured to walls of my vena cava.
