Finally finished the blood work

I started the blood work last week to determine if I have a blood disorder but as I posted here the person taking the blood out of my hand could not get enough to finish the job.
I went back today and saw a different person. When I told her that it was suggested that I get an IV so that they could draw enough blood, she looked at me like I was crazy. She was very competent and before I even knew it she had taken 6 vials. Yay. Had the people done their jobs last week there would have been no drama and I would have most likely had my results by now. I had a good ending though with a very competent person. And, I didn't bruise like I did last week.

Yeah, I suspect that the first tech didn't have the needle in right, thus not being able to get enough blood. Despite that many vials, if they are inserting correctly, it should go super fast. Glad it all worked out.

Just had to get the right person. I've been amazed how many nurses and techs out there at horrible at doing something basic like drawing blood.

If you are slightly dehydrated it can take forever to do a blood draw. Make sure you drink water before getting blood work done. When my daughter gives blood, she can take 20 minutes (if dehydrated) or 8 minutes if she's had enough water.

You can also ask for another tech if the one you have is having a difficult time. I do it all the time!
