I would discuss it with your fertility specialist. There are several fertility treatments available and I'm not sure if some are more of a risk than others but really, pregnancy itself is a risk.

I'd definitely bring in specialists on this. Talk to your hema and your doc and your OB/GYN (who, I hope, is a specialist in high-risk pregnancies).

Me, personally, I'd be really nervous to take hormones, although maybe you'd be comfortable with it if you're also taking anti-coagulants. Not sure. Everyone has their own comfort level on these things. I'd make a point to read the package insert with any meds you take, though, just so you're informed.

I think it's not just taking the fertility meds alone that could cause the risk, but the fact that they're still in your system when you conceive, and that's where it's a matter of meds combined with pregnancy that increases the risk. But that's just me speculating based on the article I attached.

Definitely something to plan for. Doesn't mean you can't have fertility treatment but that you may need to be managed differently than someone who doesn't have a clotting history. That's why these decisions are very individual and should be made with a doctor who has some experience with these things.

I did fertility meds after my DVT, but I hadn't been diagnosed with FVL at that point. I did them twice for 6-8 months each time (had a miscarriage in between), and I never had any clots, thankfully. I went on Heparin through that pregnancy, but even with that, I had numerous DVTs after delivery. I was back in the hospital for a week long stay when DS was just a week old. So yes, it is possible to do them, but like the others, I don't know that I would risk it. If you did, you'd want to be seeing a high-risk OB and a hematologist or internist who would work together throughout the entire process, just to make sure you had all of your bases covered.
